Proceeds from this annual event will go to community projects sponsored by the CWL. Parade and wreath -laying ceremony at Hensall cenotaph By Liz Sangster - _ Hensall correspondent HENSALL - On November 9, Hensall Legion held ' their Remembrance Day Service at Carmel Presbyterian Church con- ducted by Rev. Kevin Steeper and Nancy Fraser. After a short parade the cenotaph wreathsand crosses were placed. The Province of Ontario Wreath , was placed by Comrade Jean .Munn, the Royal Canadian Legion Wreath was placed by Comrade Bryan Fink, Hensall Legion Ladies . Refreshments were served after- • wards -at the Legion. Service Officer Randy Groundwatervisits the Branch on November 27 at 4:30 p.m. Call Larry ,Uyl at 262-2618 to set up an appointment. There„w' be a Solo tournament and turke draw at the Branch on November 15. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. and the fee is $5 per person. Tickets for the turkey draw are on sale now, six tickets for $5. There will be a progressive euchre at the Hensall Community Centre on November 13 at 1:30 p.m. Admission is $2. There will be prizes and coffee. This event is sponsored by the Hensall Sunset Seniors. . Rev. Kevin Steeper and Nancy Fraser were the ministers for the Remembrance Day service at Carmel Presbyterian Church. Guest soloist was George Turner singing "In The Garden" and "Abide With Me". Musical accompaniment was provided by Joyce Pepper and Dorothy Taylor. On November 17 the Hensall and District Horticultural Society will hold a potluck supper in Hensall United Church at 6:30 p.m. fol- Times -Advocate, November 12, 1997 .Page 9 Birthday cake at St. Patrick's By H. DAVIS Sainsbury correspondent SAINTSBURY - Si: Patrick's Church held their Evening Prayer remembrance service at 7 p.m. Saturday evening, November 8. - Margaret Carroll led the service from The Book of Common Prayer. Crystal Davis assisted with the scripture readings. Bob MacGillivray gave a mes- sage "A Time of Remembering". The children's focus was based on the readings and Remembrance Day and the hymn "Mine Eyes . Have Seen the Glory." • Following the service a surprise party with cake and ice cream, cof- fee, juice and goodies honored those celebrating November birth- days at St. Patrick's, including Heather MacGillivray, Margaret Carroll, Caleb and Corbin MacGillivray . and Arnold Cunningham. On November 16, St. Patrick's will celebrate their service of Holy 7L.1 rof _ the week lowed by a meeting at -8 p.m. Hensall United Church will have an anniversary service on -November • 16 at 10 a.m. The .guest speaker will be. Dave Williams. There will be a -Stratford Soul Singers concert -- with soloist Cindy Brown at 3 p.m. For tickets call Janice at 262-3505 or Joanne at 263-5683. Following the churchiservice, a ham, bean and potato meal will, be served at no charge. Everyone is welcome. . The next Hensall and Area Community Drop -In will be held it November 20 at the Hensall United Church. The day begins with foot care at 10 a.m. Please contact Marg Cole at 262-2304 -if you are inter- ested in scheduling an appointment. Lunch. will be served at noon. Following . lunch, Warren Nethercott, a pharmacist from Shoppers Drug Mart will speak. The day wraps up with games of cards for those who wish to stay. The coil is $4 per person. Many visitors at Queensway HENSALL - Everyone is a winner in Monday's bingo game with the Bethel Reformed Women. Residents also enjoyed the Hymn sing led by the Reformed Women following bingo. In the evening residents were- entertained by the talented Christian Reformed Singers, A program with the -. Hymns listed on it enabled residents: to join in singing their favorite Hymns. It was beautiful as usual, thank- you. to the Christian Reform Singers. Winnie Hutton . was in -Wednesday to lead the Bible Study. • "Senior Saints" Growing Older in God's Family. 'Residents benefit from conversing with Hutton and her leadership as Pastoral Care Volunteer. . Laughter could be heard in the Activity Room as residents watched the comedy "Abbot- and Costello meet the Mummy"; the Thursday movie. Life after RRSPs was the topic of Friday afternoon 'seminar with' guest speaker Carien Jutting, a Certified Financial Planner, Retirement Income Counsellor with the TD Bank. The presentation was interesting and easy to understand. Also present was. Carol Yull of the Bank of Montreal and Diane DeWys of the CIBC, who willingly answered questions from the audience. Queensway is pleased to host these Information Sessions. Claire Masse and Doug Insley entertained retirement home residents and guests at the Friendship . Friday Evening. Dancing, singing or relaxing and just enjoying the music was a perfect way to end a busy week. The theft took place between 6:30 p.m. on No- vember 2 and 9 a.m. on Novem- ber 3. The stolen property in- cluded a 1993 blue Kawasaki,. 1986 red Honda, and a '1992 blue Suzuki. Vehicle stolen Sometime between 11 p.m.on No- vember 3 and 7 a.m. on 4, culprits stole a 1995 Dodge Caravan from a residence on Concession 2; Goderich Township. The doors of the van were lot ked and the keys were not in the vehicle. The van is red and the 1, -once number is 839WWX. Car stolen Between November 1 at 11 p.m. and November 2 at 11:13 a.m. unknown culprit(s) took a vehicle from a residence at the corner of South and St. David Streets in Goderich. The vehicle is a red 1989 Ford Festiva, li- cence number 555PCN. The ve- hicle was found at 12:37 p.m. on November 2, abandoned at the Optimist Park in Goderich.
