Prizes awarded for best Halloween costumes

CENTRALIA - The sky was
black and the rain fell on the trick -
or -treaters as they walked through
the streets of Centralia on
Halloween. Later that evening,
about 80 people gathered at the
Centralia Community Centre to
share in the fun of the annual party.
Judges Carla Revington, Lloyd
Rimmer and Dianne Andrews had a
.difficult task selecting the best
dressed. The costumes were great,
and there was lots of fun and enthu-
siasm.

Peter Scott will celebrate their wed-
ding anniversary on November 9.'
They were married one year ago at
Centralia United Church: To mark
the occasion,, nembers of Centralia
and Zion West United Church con-
gregations met at the manse on
November 1 for a shivaree. The
Scotts were surprised to find a
group of people on their -lawn in the
dark with noisemakers and fire-
crackers. Everyone returned to the•
church where Michelle Hern pre-
sented the .couple with a dozen red .
roses and an anniversary card. They
joined in singing `For They are
Jolly Good Fellows'. Refreshments
and atime of visiting followed.

United Church will host their annu-
al turkey dinner at 5 p.m. and 6:30.

The Beavers held their investi-
ture night at their last meeting,
October 28 at St. Peter's Lutheran
Church Hall, with parents and
grandparents attending. At their
meeting this Tuesday, November 4,
the boys learned the meaning of
Remembrance Day with a visit
from a Legionnaire in Hensall.
Members of the Zurich Cub pack
are getting ready for their investi-
ture night at their meeting
November 11. Parents and grand-

Scouts went on a Huron District
Baden Powell camping trip to the
Parkhill Conservation area in
October with leader Hub Thiel and
other volunteers.

Fr. Wronski of St. Boniface
Parish spent the past five weeks in
Poland visiting with relatives and
seeing holy shrines. While he was
there, he attended a funeral and a
wedding. Fr. Finn, London, and Fr.
Pluta, Godcrich, said weekend
Masses while he was away.
Vcra O'Brien is now a resident at
. the Blue Water Rest Horne.
Best wishes for a speedy recov-
ery to Marcella Overholt who
recently had a knee operation; and
to Martha Risi who was in the hos-
pital.
Sympathy goes to the family of
Clem and Theresa Regier on the
sudden toss of their son David
Regier. who passed away in
Kitchener this past week.

ents, Mozart Gelinas Sr. She came
to do a clothing demonstration in
London.
Mary Regier (Ducharme) spent a
few days this past week with her
new baby visiting her mother
Helene and relatives in the arca.
Vesta Miller and Annie VanRaay
of Dashwood returned home on
Sunday after a 10 -day vacation vis-
iting with their daughters in Texas.
Vesta stayed with Vickie and Bob
Hutchins and three girls while
Annie stayed at the home of Joanne
and Pete Jantzen and their two
girls.
•Kristie Miller attended the
Ontario Students for Life
Conference on October 23-26 in
Toronto, along with approximately
500 other young people active in
the Pro Life movement. She is the
daughter of Diane and Mike Miller,
RR 2 Zurich.
