Shown here are Marion and Mel Westlake's grandchildren Jasmine Power, 9, and Keelan Power, 6. The Westlake's drove all the way from Windsor, Ontario to be with their grandchildren for the event. A Presbyterial. visitor, Shirley Aitcheson brought greetings from Huron Perth Presbyterial and told of -her -work as an executive mem- ber of Presbyterial. President Easton conducted the business portion of the meeting. The treasurer's report was given by Miriam Roushorne and the reports of committees were given. A congregational dinner will be Huron County Women Institute Fall Rally STEPHEN TOWNSHIP - The 46th Huron County Rally of the Women's Institute was held in Stephen Township Community Centre. Roll call for' this well attended event was a• non-perishable food item for the Food Bank. Helen Miller' from the Ladies Division of the Huron County International Plowing Match to be held near Dashwood in 1999 gave a report.on some of the. plans. Margurite Thomas ` from the Huron County Unit gave the ladies information on Breast Screening. Sheila McCaffrey spoke on the Children's Aid Bursary and it was decided to continue with $1. per member of the bursary. Winnifred Mann' Board Director for Subdivision II brought greetings from F.W.I.O. Slice of Huron will be held April 13-17 1998 and the Institute members from the districts in the County will serve the volunteer workers their dinners. Joan Stewart brought information from the 4H Clubs Leaders Association and it' was decided to make a contribution to the "Friends of the 4H". Members were brought an update on the Educational Workshops to be held at St. Pauls on October 28 and at Londesborough on October 30. The Huron County Women's Institute Scholarship was presented to Kelly McNee from Dungannon and Dree Park and Kelly McNee received recognition for completing 24 4H Club Awards. Fern Dougall 'from Hurondale WI gave a demonstration on the making of Flower Pot Dolls and ideas for decorating for Thanksgiving and fall entertaining using flower pots. Alma Davey and Jean Neil of the Crediton Institute were in charge of the Macarina entertainment. The winners of the Huron South District Women's Institute draw were: quilt - Marie Fyudenchuk, Crediton, afghan Heidi Soudant, Hensall. Grocery gift certificate - Grace Yearley, Crediton. Hurondale Institute won the prize, donated by Dolores Shapton for selling the most tickets on the draw. The. Fall Rally will be hosted by Huron East in1998 at Walton. held November 28 at 6:30 p.m. A craft sale is to be held on October 18 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. On November 2 the P.C.W. will serve supper at an Elder's Workshop being held in Caven Church.
