Profile By Sarah Vermunt The two big S.H.D.H.S. fund raising events took place on Friday and Saturday. The Panther Power Walk occurred on Friday, October 17. Classes were cancelled for that day so students could go on an 18 km. walk that they had collected pledges for. It took anywhere from 2 and a half to 3 and a half hours to walk. A few very determined and perhaps insane students (and one teacher) ran the entire distance, mak- ing their time about 1 and a half hours. After the walk, participants were given a free lunch and some spare time to spend playing foot- ball, soccer, or just resting. Students and teachers were bussed back to the school at the end of the day. The Panther Power Walk was a kompletely new attempt at fund raising for the school. Although it 'was the first year for the walk it is hoped that it will become an annual [ vent and • 11 repl...:e all other fund raising. The walk will also help thers who are not within our school. because 10 per cent of all money raised goes to United Way. The annual Panther Fun Fest took place on Saturday, October 18. It is a community garage sale, raffle, and silent auction. A community breakfast was served from the school cafeteria and was cooked by school staff and students. Road hockey and volleyball tournaments were also a part of this event. The day was a success and a big thanks goes out to all students staff, local business and community that took part in it!
