back a couple of weeks later and
said she felt like she was ten years
younger," Gilliland said. .
She explained because some old-
er people take a number of med-
icines, taking an all -natural pre-
scription- is great for thein because
it doesn't have the side effects that
medical drugs have through mix-
ing. -
But -what is more important than
anything, according to Gilliland,•is
preventative medicine.. •
"1 think that everyone should be
on vitamin suppleinents. That is the
first' step towards good health. Most
people don't get enough nutrients
from store-bought food; but they
need to get their nutrient intake
somewhere. By boosting the im-
mune system, you prevent be-

On Tuesday, September 30th,
some students of S.H.D.H.S..
participated in a "walk -out".
This displayed the students con-
cern about the education act,
concern for what will happen to
our teachers, and the .future of
education. -
The protest was organized
and run completely by students
who felt that further slashing
education was going toir far.
The protest occurred at lunch
hour and -students who cared
about the issue gathered (on
-their own time; and of their own
free will) in the large gyri for an
-information session about the
proposed.cuts.
The group then •filed out the
doors and onto the street in front
of the school, shouting; "No
more cuts! More education!".
This was run and organized in a
mature way, proving how seri-
ous an issue it was to everyone
participating. It was a spirited
group effort to display the views:
of students, a view which, ironi-
cally, hasn't really keen taken
into consideration much, con-
cerning the issue.
The "Stop Smoking" clinic
will he held at. the school on
Tuesday, October 14. 'Ile clin-
ic takes place just inside the.
,nain doors at lunch hour.
Student smokers can get infor
mation about 'statistics, health
risks, and how to get help to •
quit. Display hoards, pam-
phlets, and carbon, monoxide
tests have been things that have
been at the clinic in past years.
Everyone is encouraged to conic
out, especially those who are
thinking about quitting.

GRAND BEND - "Wc are
seniors working for seniors" was
the message of Zone 8 President,
Louise Hayter, at the September
general meeting of Grand .Bend
Golden Agcrs last week. "We are
involved in the education and pro-
motion of wellness, health, fitness,
recreation and safety for all
seniors," she added. There is a
Minister of Senior Affairs in both
the provincial and federal govern-
ments.
Zone 8 is part of the United
Senior Citizens of Ontario, an orga-
nization that began•in 1956 and
now represents 300,000 seniors and
1200 clubs. It is affiliated with the
National Pensioners that represents
all of Canada. The zone extends
to North
from Dungannon
Lamhton.
The organization's benefits to
seniors include improvements to
the OHiP drug plan, subsidized

and described the meaning of its
design.
"Ilie local club will host the Zone
Rally on October 14.
President Larry Cole suggested
that the excellent growth of the
local club indicates the need for a
community centre sometime in the
future. To the naysaycrs he recalled
that such was the case when both a
medical center and a library were
first proposed. People with leader-
ship skills made it happen.
Travel Convener, Laura
Cavalier, informed thc members
that a bus trip to Frankenmuth will
he available on December 14. 'Tic
trip includes a concert, dinner and
visit to the famous Christmas tree
as well as the Christmas lights in
Sarnia.
Margaret Adams announced the
winners of the summer shuffling,
4 Sien Smits, Rem Bradford and Lou
4 Hamilton were number one, two
