School senior girls 'won their first basketball ganie • of the season at home last week by sti- lling St. Anne's 44-23. Coach Terry O'Rourke said the team put in "a very good all-round effort." Arlene Intakhana put up -10 points, Julie Roosebolnn added eight and Jen Regier netted five.. The junior girls lost to a strong Si. Anne's team 35-30. .."Although they lost, it was the girls hest 'outing this year," coach Brian O'Connell said. Cherisse Knip and Sarah Gardner led Pan- ther scoring with six points each. The midgets remain 'undefeated after squeaking by St. Anne's 40- 39, Jessica Davies and Kerrie Ful- ton scored II points each and Pant Love added six. Jeff Campbell and Ben McCann led Exeter scor- ers with two goals each with Mike Bowerman,Jeff Finkbeiner, Chris McDonald and Geoff Mayer add- ing singles:'Jeff Glover, Finkbeiner, Dave Farquhar and Jeff Glavin each added two assists -and Ryan Freiter added a single helper. The game was much closer than the final score suggests with the teams exchanging goals till Exeter • took a 5-4 lead with only 19 seconds left in the sec- ond period. The Hawks took charge of the game early in thethird by scoring a goal after only 50 sec- onds and never looked back.
