Stray cats draw concern
from Grand Bend residents

Restructuring on hold
ZURICH - With the municipal
elections only a month away. the
, Municipal Restructuring Coinniit-
tee is taking a break until after De-
cember 15.
The MRC has been working on a
restructuring proposal for the
Townships of Hay, Stephen and
, Tuckersmith as well as the Villages
of Hensall. Bayfield and Zurich.
9-1-1 signs named
in Usborne Twp.
USBORNE - All 9-1-I signs
have been named.and posted in Us-
• borne Township. as stated in the
Usborne council minutes dated
September 16. 1997.
Also. hag tags will he used for
garbage collection in Usborne for
the first time. Bag tags will cost
residents $2 for each tag.
Coleman to .run for
warden
Huron County Councillor Jack
Coleman of Stanley Township has
decided to run for warden for 1998.
He made the announcement at
county council's October meeting.
Coleman will be competing
against Bill Weber of Stephen
Township to succeed current war-
den. Murray Keys.
Correction
In the Murphy's Pub wing eating
contest photo the names of two
contestants were misspelled. The
:tames of the first place winner was
Matthew Collings and the second
place, winner was Ted Hoffman.
The Times Advocate regrets the er-
ror. •
At a meeting last Wednesday
night, the committee passed a mo-
tion for the newly -elected councils
to appoint a representative to the
MRC by Dec. 15 with the under-
standing the committee would meet •
as soon as possible after that date.
All six councils have reviewed
the draft restructuring proposal
with only Tuckersmith giving its
unconditional support. Hay. Zurich.
Hensall.and Stanley want changes

Happy retirement. South Huron Hospital held a'ietiremertt
party for Alex Meikle -and Audrey Pooley Monday, Septem-
', ber 29. Meikle was director of maintenance tor 41 years- at
the 'hospital. He said .that although he. worked hard during
his many years. with the hospital, "I'm much busier -now."
Pooley started hat the hospital in 1959 in obstetrics, until
:gradually.she built her way: up to acting director. She said
her profession has been `both "rewarding and chalenging, "
but "it's time to move on...and that. is .to retirement."
