Members of the Dashwood Friedsburg Days Committee distributed the profits from this year's event to local community groups last Wednesday in Dashwood. Villa residents celebrate fair days EXETER - September at the Exeter Villa, the Activity Depart- ment saluted 'Fall Fair Days', the crowning of the Exeter. Villa Fall Fair Queen started off the salute in style. The Queen for 1997 .is. Bea Tate. What's a fair without hotdogs, ice cream cones, pop- corn and pop. The villa, hosted a mini Fair Midway with game . and chances to win. prizes. Baking contest. Baby Show; and last but not least a Stuffed Pet Show; -•.will round out the months events. - What's a fair without entertain- ment:. The Granton Rythmuaries- . opend the fun on September 11. The Legion Ladies are a high- light to the residents when they host Bingo the second Monday of each month: .."The residents were delighted by. the sound of the Merry Mark- ers at the -September birthday par- ty. , The- residents of the Villa had their own -little surprise shower on September 17 for the Director of Social/Volunteer Services at the Exeter Villa: Kim Newman. She was married on September 26. It was a busy month and now preparation has begun for Christ- • ,mas and Holly Festival hazaar on November 1. Winners of the Summer Raffle were: Carol , Mills - tomato soup blanket -and Bonnie Ratz - Ranch House gift certificate. Birthday party for Bluewater residents • ZURICH - The residents of Blue Water Rest Home were entertained • for the September Birthday Party by Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church C.W.L. on Monday aft`ernoon.. Helene Witr-helped organize- the event for -birthday celebrities Nelson Howe, Lottie Gascho, Margaret Mous_ scau and Dorothy Dietrich -who received gifts from -B.W:R.H.,Auxiliary. Les Greenwood led the Lakeshore Line Dancers and ..got the resident involved with some of the numbers. Members of the C.W.L. led a sing -a -long of some of the residents favorite songs. Lunch was served hy the church members with the ,assistance of Auxiliary members Marie Mathonia, Gladys Gingcrich, Helen Otterbein and Irene Clausius. In :the evening the family of resident Dorothy Dietrich provided a second. party for her by serving cake and ice cream in the auditorium in celebration of Dorothy's 70th birthday on September 24. Tuesday evening members of Lakeview Conservative Mennonite Church. visited the home and sang hymns. Everyone enjoyed . Wednesday afternoon tea with -the assistance of Cathy Shantz, Adjuvant and; Ann McBride Hobby Room Convener. Thursday Chapel Service was conducted by Rev. Ross Thomson, • St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Zurich.. Fr. Matthias Wronski, St. Boniface Church, Zurich celebrated Mass. Fr. Wronski will be on vacation during the month of October; however communion and rosary services will continue to be held Thursday afternoon in the Chapel by members of the parish. Friday afternoon approximately Pitit" M cDerl4co tt 25 residents gathered in the .auditorium to form a rhythm hand. No previous musical experience was a prerequisite. Sunday relatives of resident Beatrice,_ McNab-visited the home from the Gospel Hall,- London to sing hymns to the residents.`Buzz and Bob Brown, Hubert and- Albert Gratton, Dave and Ben Gardiner sang hymns taught by their parents and. grandparents. . Annie, a resident at. the home the past 11 years. was well . known in Zurich as many community members - were customers of the store she managed for many years. .
