EXETER — The South Huron District' High School Panthers showed they Will be a field hockey force to be reckoned with last week by breezing -through their first three league games, No ane could score on Panther goalies on Thursday, with SHDHS winning both ends of a home dou- bleheader versus St. Anne's and Stratford Central with scores of 6-0' and 7-0 respectively. The midgets won their first game of the sca'sonat home 'over Gode- rich 38-32 last week. Kerrie Fulton led Panther scorers with 13 points with Jessica Davis addiag_.ning,. Michelle Hakvoort .and Katie Fox also played good games. • The juniors and seniors didn't' - fare as well. with tosses of 37-15 and 53-11 respectively. The midgets also won 58-47. at • Seaforth on Monday. Davies put .4 16 points and Fulton added -1L. Bowling tournament for 'fun' Hy Ron Dann ZURICH - The Zurich 5 Pin Bowlers' Association. in co-opera- tion with Town and Country pro- prietors Tony and Marlene Bedard, has completed arrangements to host a 3-6:9 fun tournament for Town and Country adult bowlers. Under this unique format all bowlers are given an automatic strike in the third, sixth and ninth frame of each of the five games. The total cost is S15 and all bowlers will receive a prize. Entries alesavailableat Town and Country Lanes and will be limited to 36 bowlers. The tournament date is Saturday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m. and the entry deadline is October 10. Bluewater Ontario ()pen Rolloffs set The Bluewater 5 Pin Bowlers' Association has completed arrange- ments for the►20 game Bluewater zone qualifying round of' the Ontario Five Pin Bowlers' Association (O.F.P.B.A.) Ontario Open 5 Pin Bowling Championships for the Sidney L. Moms Awards. Entries will be lim- ited to 36 bowlers at $32.10 each plus $40 lineage. Molesworth will host the first ten games December 7 with the final 10 going to Clinton Lanes December 14 followed by Bluewater team coach appoint- ments. Nineteen Bluewater bowlers will qualify. to advance to the O.F.P.B.A. Provincial Open Finals 'April 8-11 at Hamilton. Bluewater awards challenge to Zurich Bluewater Bowlers' Association has awarded the five game O.F.P.B.A. Youth Challenge Zone 1 rolloffs to Zurich Town and Country lanes November 30. The seniors fared -better, going 2-1 versus.Goderich (15-8, 13- 15, 15-11) and 3-0 versus Seaforth (15-5, 15-3, 15-9) -for a 5-1: record. Junior -coach Phil Conley said while they're off to a slow start, it should be a winning.season for South Huron _while senior coach Scott Halpenny- said ,Derek Etherington and Dave Farquhar put' in solid games for his squad. The Panther boys took on host Clinton Central Huron and Wingham Madill at yesterday's tournament and next host Central Huron and St. Anne's tomorrow.
