REPUTATION to us! reputation is an enviable thing... it has to be earned, jealously guarded and continually nurtured. From our reputation has stemmed the tremendous acceptance of DARLING'S IGA as a family shopping adventure. Fred Darling has been engaged in the meat and grocery business since 1942, when he started working for the late Harp Rivers in Rivers Meat Market. In 1947, Fred joined partnership with Bill Chambers and purchased the business from Harp. They operated Chambers and Darlings Meat Market and when that partnership was dissolved, Fred started Darling's Meat Market and then took over the IGA franchise with its first location in the present Middleton Drugs building. In 1959, he moved the store to its present site and it was expanded in 1965. Darling's continued to expand by establishing in Lucan in 1962 and in Huron Park in 1969. Last month, their modern new abattoir at the north end of Exeter was completed. Fred's 31 years in the grocery and meat business has earned -him -a reputation -for quality -standards; value - and customer acceptance. Equally important is Darling's reputation for SERVICE... the helpful clerk, the butcher who cuts it just the way you want, or the friendly fellow who helps carry your parcels. It has to be good, because you've been coming back to Darling's since 1946. Fred and his staff thank you for that and hope you'll continue to keep coming back. We're not interested in making money... we just like to make friends. Meet the Exeter staff in 1973 Back.- Dunc" McAdam; Bob Brand. Jim ,Miller. .Veal." Tim Bigelow. Percy Wright. Jim Darting.
