Frasers celebrate their heritage

about 85 present and the roast beef
dinner was catered by the Order of
the Eastern Star. Guests attended

Scotia, Ottawa, Cobourg, Windsor,
Ingersoll, Thamesford, London,
Strathroy, Forest,,Thedford, Grand
Bend, Parkhill, Shipka and the sur-
rounding area.
Clare Fraser and his wife Beth
motored from Nova Scotia on theft-
honeymoon.
heirhoneymoon. Clare is doing a Fraser
family tree and showed pictures
and told about when the Frasers
came from Scotland to New York
State and Canada about 1812.
Helen Fraser of Parkhill was for-
tunate to have five generations of
her family attend the gathering.
There was much reminiscing and
picture taking. The next reunion
will be in three years.
Ken and Marg Baker were recent
visitors with Ken's brother Earl
Baker at Aylmer, and also with
their sister: in=.law Evelyn Dick of
Ingersoll.
.Community sympathy is
expressed to Leota Snyder-, her
family and grandchildren with -the
death of Fennon on September '12.
Also to Marie Hullehusch, daughter
Sandra and her husband Paul Love,
with the death of Marcel on
September 18.
Visitors this week with Kcn and
Marg Baker were Ken Jr. and
Carole Baker, Godcrich, Mike,
Donna, Emily and Ryan Yarrow, of
Guelph.
Hugh and Annie Morenz, their
son Bill of London, and Hazel
Corbett of Hensall motored to Mio,
Michigan on the weekend where
they attended the 50th wedding
anniversary of cousins Roy and
Jean Boerner. Their party was held
in Mio Methodist Church. Other
area folks also attending were Don
and Elizabeth Adams. and Donna`
Corbett of Exeter.

at Heritage Museum
ZURICH - The residents of the Blue Water Rest Home enjoyed their
afternoon with Gladys Van Egmond and the "Merry Makers" on
September 12. Gladys played the piano and accordion, Mozart Gelinas Sr.
played banjo and guitar, Elgin Nott played the violin, and Harvey
McDowell played the violin to some old time music.
Residents have enjoyed watching Shine, Evita and Jungle 2 Jungle on
the big TV screen in the auditorium. Afternoon tea on September 10 was
enjoyed by the residents. Idella Gabel provided classical music for the
event.
There was an outing September 16 to the Lambton Heritage Museum
near Grand Bend to see the quilts on display from Saskatchewan. There
were quilts made by many community members on display as well.
Dorothy Dietrich, Esther Makins, Philippa Steckle, Mabel Riley, Hilda
Rader and Beatrice Geoffrey made the outing. Ray Rader, volunteered to
drive the wheelchair van, Vivian Fremlin, Jean Armstrong and Cathy
Shantz assisted the residents in their tour.
September 17, the residents took part in the Huron County Alzheimer
Coffee Hour. Residents, staff, auxiliary and community members took a
moment for a cup of coffee/tea and cookies and made donations towards
the Alzheimer Society of Huron County.
Max Ducharme and the "Townliners" visited the Home on September
18 to entertain the residents. Ducharme, Phyllis Deichert, Harvey Hodgins
and Doug Insley had residents up and on the floor dancing to the beat.
Roy Gingerich, Philippa Steckle, Mabel Kyle, Mabel Riley, Clara
Hamilton, Clarence Gascho, Beatrice Rader and Seleda Steckle, with the
aid of the wheelchair bus and volunteers attended the Zurich Mennonite
Church on Sunday. In the afternoon, Art Coker entertained with organ
music in the Chapel.
Recent Thursday afternoon chapel services have been led by Rev. Cheri
DiNovo, Brucefield United Church, Evangelist Arnold Gratton, Gospel
Hall, Grand Bend, and Fr. Matthias Wronski, St Boniface Church, Zurich.
Many of the fall colors have come full bloom in the gardens and coun-
tryside with recent rains and everyone is taking as much advantage as: they
can before the winter snows set in. Mary Regier has been the indoor gar-
• dener for us as she has mad numerous trips with bundles of fresh for the
residents to enjoy.gladioli. There have been a wide variety of colors, from
rich -burgundy red, variegated pinks, brilliant whites to soft yellows.
Best wishes to Louis Weigand and Connie Graham who are patients at
University Hospital; and to Nettie Tinney who is also a patient in London.
Volunteers Needed
With the fall season as people resume their normal busy schedules, the
Home is in need of extra volunteers. The Auxiliary members are kept
quite busy attending to the residents needs, but the home is in need of
extra -volunteers to accompany residents on outings. Shopping trips to
' Masonville Plaza or Goderich, trips to museums, picnics, outings in group
settings when a resident is matched one on dne with a volunteer; drivers
either for the wheelchair bus or their own cars to medical appointments in
Zurich, Exeter, Grand Bend, London, Goderich or Stratford where there is
only one resident to take; volunteers to assist with activities within the
Home itself - transplanting of flowers, and assisting with games and crafts.
If you have any spare time and would like to assist with senior citizens,
please call the Home at 236-4373 and ask for Cathy Shantz, Adjuvant.

September28- a birthday party with our Lady of Mount Carmel Church
and Bob Brown and the Gospel Hall singers.
September 30 -the bi-weekly Bible Study will resume for the fall season
at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Gani Lazaro. Zurich/Dashwood United Church.

the Clerk of Exeter between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. up to and
including Nomination Day, Friday, October 10, 1997.

FURTHER TAKE NOTICE that nominations must be in the
prescribed form, and be accompanied by the prescribed
nomination filing fee of $100. The nomination will only be
certified where the Clerk is satisfied that the person is
qualified to be nominated and that the nomination complies
with the Act. the nomination must be signed by the candidate,
and may be filed in person or by an agent as set forth in
section 33 of the Act. Nomination forms and full particulars of
procedure to be followed may be obtained from the
undersigned. -
Where there are more certified candidates than are required
to fill the office, notice will be given on the location of voting
places, the dates and times that voting places will be open for
voting, manner in which electors may be voting proxies, and
any alternative voting methods.

Tuesday, October 14, 1997, the number of certified

If an elector is unable to vote at the Advance Vote or on Voting
Day, both with curbside voting available for the handicapped,
he or she may designate another voter to vote by proxy for
that individual who is unable to vote. The elector wishing to
appoint a voting proxy must do so on the prescribed form
during regular office hours of the Clerk up to and including
Election Day or between 12 noon and 5 p.m. on the day of the
