( Hawks tie two on weekend
HENSALL — It was an even Stephen kind of weekend for the Ex-
eter Jr. D Hawks hockey club who played to ties versus Brussels Jr"
Cat Hensall Arena on Saturday and at Mitchell on Friday. .
• Jeff Campbell scored the last goal while shorthanded versus Brus-
- sets with Mike Skinner getting the'helper to notch Exeter the 575 tie:
Jeff Finkbeiner scored two goals. the first assisted by Ben McCann
and the second an Unassisted .breakaway goal while the Hawks
played with the extra man. Dan Taylor added a powerplay goal, with
assists by Jeff Glavin and Geoff Mauer and Sean McCann rounded
out the scoring with an unassisted goal.
While there isn't much difference playing a Jr. C team as opposed
. to Jr. D Exeter coach Dave Revington said,, Jr. C's 60 to 70 teams
and Jr. D's 19 teams means the best, Jr. C teams are usually better
than the best Jr. D teams. •
"The main difference between 'Jr, D and Jr. C is geography." Rev-
ington said.
Exeter dueled Mitchell to a 3-3 tie -on Friday.
"Mitchell always plays hard," Revington said. "It was a good test
for the younger players playing older; bigger guys."
Revington said he's used three different Zine-uQs over the Hawks'
three exhibition games which provided him with a good look at the
available talent:
With no more exhibition games left. Exeter next plays their opener
versus the Belmont Bombers at Hansa"' .on Sept. 26 at 8:30 p.m. •
