Bantams wind up 32-5
WALLACEBURG - The .Exeter. -'C'. Bantams hardball team ended
their super successful '97. season with a good showing at. the Ontario
Baseball Association final tournament -at Wallaceburg on the weekend.
Exeter went 2-2 for the tournament to finish in the middle of the. pack.
They were knocked out of the tournament on Sunday by losing to the host
team 9-8. . .. -
"We were down 8-2 at one point and we came hack to tie it 8-8," assist-
ant coach Mike Watt said. "We've always come hack all.year."
Exeter gave up a run in the second extra inning, number nine. for the
loss that knocked them out of the tournament. Nick Regier picked up team
game MVP honors. -
On Saturday afternoon the Bantams edged Tillsonhurg 11-8 in an error
filled game. Exeter was behind 7-4' at one point. hut Nick Regier's two
run double late. in the game sealed his second 'game MVP honor: Tim
Masse, Ryan Parker. Mark Bilinsky. Scott Skinner and Mike Seip shared.

Exeter -also beat Wyoming on Saturday 6-3. Nick Regier pitched four
• innings and Seip closed the remaining three. - -
- "Everyone contnhuted," Watt said. "We basically heat them up with the •
hats." '
Ben Debus hit a two -run triple in the sixth inning to break the game
open and was named, the game MVP. .. • -
The Bantams started the'tourney with a 6-5 loss to Midland on Friday.
Ben Duskocy started. lasting four innings with Parker closing it out. Exet-
er had a 4-0 lead at one point but Midland came hack. sealing the. widhy
capitalizing on an error m the fifth inning that brought in the winning run.
Duskocy was named game MVP. . .
Though confident they_ had a shot to win it all going into the OBA final
weekend. -Watt said the team is happy with their 32-5 overall performance .
.this season that was upped by a WOBA championship and iY,inntng the
Petrolia tourney.
'It was a great season.' Watt •said.: "No team in Wallaceburg outclassed
us. If we were a bit healthier we could of won
The core of the team will he hack next year for midget -level action.-
