summer holidays draw to a
close the Canada Employment
Centre for ,Students wishes to
congratulate area employers
and students on Jobs Well
Done: The summer of 1987
has been a particularly -posi-
tive one for Huron County
with over 1,680 student place-
ments. This is up eight per- -
cent Froin last year's figures.
Student registrations were
also up from last year's statis-
tics with 453 students using'.

months.

August 30, 1942 - Mr. Allan
W. Pickard of Regina who has
spent the summer months with
his brother, Clerk C.W. and
Mrs. Pickard Icft Thursday to
attend a meeting of the execu-
tive of the Canadian Amateur
Hockey Association in Toron-
to. Allan is a vice-president.
From there he will return to his
home in the West.
Mr. Stanley Frayne who has
been employed with Chainway
Ltd. in Listowel for the past 10
months has enlisted for active
service.

Tolmay was in charge of the regu-
lar church service on Sunday morn-
ing at Elimville Church.
The service commenced with'the
•singing of the Introit.
Prayer of Approach was given by
the minister and everyone joined in
.the Confession in unison from the
service Book. The choir sang "Je-
sus Is All World To Me" accompa-
nied by the pianist Marilyn Vander-
bussche. ,
The topic of the minister's ser -
.mon was "Holy" is a four letter
word.
The congregation sang the hymn
"Soldiers of Christ Arise" and Rev.
Tolmay gave the Commissioning
and said the Benediction followed
, by the Triple Amen.

Dining for seniors
EXETER - Faye Skinner is back'after her maternity leave of absence.
It is great to have her back.
Hopefully attendance will rise when summer holidays are over. The
cold plate dinner was delicious.
Keyboard players for the month were Jean Hodgert, Maxine Sereda,
Wilma Davis and Josie Ryckman. August 5 program was a demonstra-
tion of Rope making given by Ken Connolly of Mitchell. Mary Neil
read a few jokes.
On August 11 entertainment was - music by Andy Rau, Clare Masse
and Peter Kiley. A presentation on August 19 by Fran Hook from Com-
munity Care Access Centre explained the method of calling for assis-
tance when necessary in the Home Care program.
Howard Ramsey of Shoreline Health Co. came on August 26 to dem-
onstrate the equipment available tc seniors. Walkers, canes, bathtubs
and tub seats as well as many other items are available. Mildred Thom-
son received a plant in recognition of her retirement from volunteer
work for many years with the dining program.
Draw prize winners for the month were Lyla Broderick, Len
McNaughton, Ruth Brock, Beatrice Tate, Marion Frayne, Ida McBride,
Andy Dougall, Bea Munn, Stewart Miner, Jennie Harris, Pat Skinner,
Humphrey Arthur, Allen Buswell, Betty Laye, Ruth Arthur and Flo
McFarlane. Birthday's celebrated this month were Lyla Broderick,
Humphrey Arthur; Kate Wilson, Flo McFarlane and Mildred Thomson.

The Kirkton-Woodham Commu-
nity Centra was a buzz this past
Tuesday night (August 26) as over
100 kids and their parents honored
the Ushorne Minor Ball teams for
this years achievements.
Plans are already in the works for
next year's season with hopefully
more boys teams representing the
township. Special congratulations
to the Mite -Girls team for winning
the "B" Championship this year.
Also the Pec -wee girls deserve rec-
ognition for being this year's sea-
son champs. -
