Elsie Dann. Florence McRobert, Norah Wissel and Alma Nicholson enjoyed 'Brigadoon' at the Huron Country Playhouse in Grand Bend on August 22: Muria) Lewis also enjoyed . 'Brigadoon' with Clandeboye W.I. and friends on August 28 .and dinner following at Aunt Gussie's restaurant. Larry Lewis visited with Teresa and Shayne Ainsworth in London on Saturday. At the Granton United Church on Sunday, Pastor Normalic Voakes entitled her sermon "Fashion Statement Part 2 Cleaning out the Closet" based on the lessons from James one and Ephesians 4. At St.Paul's Anglican Church in Kirkton on Sunday, Rev. Glenda Meakin opened the service with a short meditation and prayer follow- ing the tragic, death of Princess Diana, her boyfriend and their chauffeur. The sermon message was that all good .thingscome from God and through faith hope and trust; truc.religion can -be increased. Book signing Prolific author Ron Brown attended a public book -signing at the Times Advocate on Thurs day. He said he was pleased with the turnout, especially in the summer just before stu dents return to school. Pictured with Brown are Dalbert and -Elisabeth Robbins of Port. Franks who enjoyed having a book signed as well as chatting with the writer. Several of Brown's books concern the history of Ontario and many of its nearly forgotten communities. Queensway news • HENSALL - Fun and Fitness' started. the, residents of Queensway off Monday working•thcir way through the exercise routine. - Tuesday, Church Service was led by Shirley Luther who shares her time and talents spring through fall. In- the evening the Lakeview Singers. pre- sented a program of Gospel music to an attentive audience. Wednesday residents. enjoyed the last harbeque of the' season outdoors with beautiful.sunny 'weather and a light breeze. The•harbeques held each Wednesday in June. July and August have been, very successful with nurs- ing and retirement home residents dining outdoors on alternate Wednc.- ,days. , Thursday evening 29 senior diners stayed 10, enjoy with 'residents the August birthday party with the Nashville Rejects from 7 p.m. to 8 -p.m. The Rejects entertained with a variety 'of Country Tunes.. A favorite was Elgin'Fishers• Lumber Jack song. • - Friday-mimting°residentscouncil met .with -chairperson -Winnie Huttotr-- Residents had opportunity to share ideas and comments regarding all is- sues'important to them. They are travelling to thL( Western Fair in Lindon September 9 to sec Tommy Hunter entertain on thc•,grand strand. , • In the afternoon operations groups met in the Retirement Home Lounge and reviewed the past month as well as had a sneak preview of the coming - - r events.
