Exeter women lose three
The soccer team is seeking a coach.
LONDON - Exeter Women's Soccer Club found the road
more than unfriendly last week, losing three straight
games.
On Friday Exeter was edged 4-3 by the SouthEnd Snip-
ers. Exeter started strong, controlling the play during the
first part of the first half but couldn't capitalize on scoring
opportunities. The Snipers got two quick goals at the end
of half, but the score was even just minutes into the sec-
ond half with Exeter's Helen Theophilopoulos and Cindy
Moore doing the damage within seconds of each other.
SouthEnd then scored on a penalty kick given after an
Exeter handball inside the 18 -yard box.
Moore tied it up at 3-3, but SouthEnd took the lead for
good minutes later. Exeter dominated the rest of the
game but could not find the net with their scoring op-
portunities.
At Walkacetown last Wednesday, Exeter lost 4-1, with
Hayley Snell scoring Exeter's lone goal.
Exeter's strong effort versus host London's Marconi last
week didn't show up on the scoresheet with a 6-0 loss.
The three losses bring Exeter's record to 2-8-1 (wins,
losses, tie).
"Having no coach really hurts us," Moore said.
If you're interested in volunteering as a coach for the
Exeter women, call Moore at 235-0670 (work) or 235-
3656 (home).
Exeter next hosts St. Columbian today at 7 p.m. at Can-
ner's Field.
