EXETER - Huron County Onta- rio Provincial Police recently re- leased the results of a county -wide Commercial Vehicle Blitz de- scribed in a press release as a suc- cess. Inspection stations were set up in Wingham, Clinton, Exeter, Grand Bend and Goderich. A total of 187 vehicles had a complete inspection and 69 (37 per cent) were taken out of service. Of the 69, 28 plates were removed and 41 were able to make the necessary repairs and continue operating. The charges were as follows: 39 charges laid for incomplete pre -trip sheets and being mechani- cally unsafe ie. fail to maintain standards, defective brakes etc. 6 charges for expired or missing annual inspection sticker - 4 charges- for not being registered or without sticker 3 charges for insecure•load 6 charges for over weight charge for over width I charge for regulatory offence - improper registration • 2 charges for driving while sus- pended I charge for improper registration of vehicle 2 vehicles detained due to im- proper classification of driver's li- cence - I charge of failing to display sticker.
