LUNCH BUFFET ...S4 6011 IRONWOOD GOLF CLUB, :EXETER Every year more and more players fill up the links at various gold courses all over the continent. More than half of all new golfers are women: No more is this evident than at Ironwood Golf Club in Exeter. Club owner -Gib Dow says "women like • to play Ironwood" mostly because of -the- ladies tees, which are usually 50-100 yards ahead of the mens. tee. Women on average don 't hit the ball as far as men and.that is:why y women's- tees are a. shorter distance to the green to compensate` for the,Strength factor. The rules and regulations ofgolf are the same for men as they are for women, though there- are - differences ion'style. Gib points out women will -usually use a 3 -wood more often, with the new longer -style of gold club,. women now hit -a ball further and longer, and hit with woods, --#3 and' #4 irons more often. The drive for women at the ladies tee is sometimes critical with 'creeks winding through most holes it sometimes -becomes difficult_hi-tting the second shot over the creek: In general, Gib Dow points out the 3rd and -7th holes are the most challenging on his course, : though ,he admits hole #6 is the most challenging for women at Ironwood. - #6's long fairway, with the creek separating it -3/4. of the way along. could cause a, second. shot to land- or roll into the creek.` A short but steep hill just before'` the green . also poses a threat of a ball rolling down. the hill. If you are a 'lady that plays golf or is thinking about playing golf come out't`o IronwQQd, and play the course from the ladies' tee - but you better be -. on 'the ball at hole #6..
