Co-op gallery
Artists In Grand. Bend now have a place to display their work after a group of local artists
opened a co-operative gallery.bn River Road next to Fisherman's Cove Restaurant. The -gal-
lery features original and prints of oil paintings, water colors, mixed media and sculptures.
Those who attended said the. charming_ building lends itself to the "fishing village ambience
and is an added attraction for tourists docking at the marina. From left, Grand Bend artists

There will be a Community Welcome Shower for
Monica Mead, fiancee of Paul Hill, on July 9 at the
Stanley Township Complex at 8 p.m.
_ A "Shrinking Theme Party" in support of thc..Blyth
Festival was held on June 25 at the home of Joan and
Don Brodie of Bayfield with c6 -hosts Ruth and Tom
Lyon and Bill and Linda Linfield. Guest of honor was
David Scott. author of the play "There's Nothing in
the Paper", which will be performed at, the Blyth Festi-
' val this summer. Guests each paid $5 to attend the par-
ty and promised in turn to invite two new guests to an-
' other theme party based on another of Blyth's -plays
for this season.
In keeping with the newspaper theme of this party,
:guests received name tags bearing half of a quotation
about -newspapers and: had •to locate the guest whose
tag bore the other half of the -quotation. They also
made newspaper hats,, and five prizes for creativity
were awarded. • -
Following.a. picnic supper, Scott spoke to the guests
and fielded questions about how he came to write the
play and about his past work with CBC television and
various city and small town newspapers before here -
turned to Seaforth• his home town, as editor of The Hu-
ron Expositor. He gave. the listeners an inside look at
how a new play 'progresses from an idea to a script
through countless:revisions to the day when the script
is abandoned -and performance begins on stage. -
Sunday School Appreciation Sunday was held -re:
cently with Joe Laurie, Sunday School. Superintendent

and thanked Joe Laurie, the teachers and helpers for all

teaching these children are most welcome. They are al-
ways looking for volunteers. -
The flowers placed in the church that Sunday were in
memory of Glen Brandon. •
The Varna pork barbecue was.a huge success.
The Promise - a musical based on The life of Jesus, •
will he performed in Forest July 4, 5 6 and. l 1, 12 1S,
This is an open air performance and -cost is. $5. -Ele-
mentary and pre-school children free. Take a blanket
or a lawn -chair as this is hillside seating only. -

Annual -Meeting, Chair Verla -Russell presented Bob Hern -
with -a gift for nine years of Servicee as a -board trustee..
Marion Snider was also presented with a service award by
Audrey Pooley, Director of Nursing.

If you're interested in waste management issues, plan to attend
one of the three public meetings on Huron County's draft plan
for dealing with the solid waste produced in Huron County over
the next forty years. The plan is outlined in the preliminary draft
Stage 3 report for the Huron County Waste Management Master
Plan.
The meetings are being held: -

All three meetings start at 8 p.m.
Copies of the draft waste management plan are available for
review at your local branch of the Huron County Library.
