From the picturesque view from the clubhouse, it looks much less challenging, though many factors come into play on this par 36, 9 hole course. Last year the most challenging hole at EGC was hole #2 with it's wide . open design and uphill play that forces the golfer to contend with the creek that can.play havoc with a soft shot that may end -up in the trees to the right or off to the - left where sand traps could create trouble. Now that a year has gone by.there have been many debates about which is the most challenging hole '`The seventh hole is the most challenging, points out Bo,b Mason. Mason said for most golfers, a higher average score is much greater on hole #7. With a creek 1-70 yards- off the tee, the 'average drive could end up in the water. Three quarters oftheway-along-the -, - fairway, are two clusters of trees just after the creek where a shot to ;the left or right could cause you to play in amongst the 'tree gods'. A long dope: up to an elevated green is tricky - a difficult shot could cause the ball to- land an the ;slopeand roll down or an overhit ball to land over the green entirely. ' Hole #7 is more difficult than meets the eye , and many more factors come; into play past -the tee blocks. Both. #2 and #' are challenging; each have different obstacles to make them that way. =f r, `w the debate continues,. is #2 or #7? Play t,- ' i yourself and you be the judge.
