Blue Water residents busy, this month
ZURICH - The volunteer auxil-
iary of Blue water Rest Home pro-
vided fresh carnations to each of
the, 18 male residents for Father's
Day. On June 16 Eva Vanderheide
and her husband from Denfield en-
tertained the residents with key-
board music and vocal Music.
June 17 the Grade five Buddies
of 'St. 'Boniface ' School, Zurich
played outdoor games in the court
yard before being served hot dogs
prepared by volunteers Cindy Ve-
rhoeve and. Doreen ,Hartman: The
residents gave each buddy a potted
pansy plant and thanked them for
sharing their time, energy and expe-
riences with them the past 10
months. The program which„ was
started by retiree Margaret Suplat
and carried on by sister Susan pro-
vides quality time for both resident
and student. Over the 'years each
Grade five student has shown a
high quality and standard of our
youth in conversing with their eld-
er.
June 18 was "teddy bear" after-
noon tea. Teddy bears of every
shape, color and size appeared from
residents rooms and home of the
staff. Volunteers Emma Manson
and Vcrda Baechler served the resi-
dents and their guests.
June 22 thc home was a musical
beehive as family members came to
enjoy the annual summer dinner
with theirparents and grand par-
ents. Mozart Gelinas Sr. ,and his '
musical family and friends put eve-
' ryone in a festive mood. Mozart Jr.,
Mark, Brian and Chantel Gelinas,
along with Amy Rau and Ronnie
Schroeder filled the halls with the
sound of music: Grace Martin and
Pearl Ann Martin followed in their.
footsteps, with Art Coker as or'gan-
ist completing the entertainment
program. The home served 256
guests along with 100 residents and
workers for a fun filled afternoon.
The lucky winner of. the "Trip
Around the World" pieced quilt
made by the Auxiliary and drawn
on June 21 was Catby Dietrich of
Crediton. Cathy is the, daughter-in-
law of resident Dorothy Dietrich.
June 23 the UCW of Crediton
United Church -visited the home to
entertain' the residents for the June
birthday party under the leadership.

Rose Merner along with apartment
tenants Stewart' Thiel and Beatrice'
Rader boarded the wheelchair bus
for an afternoon of entertainment
and to reacquaint themselves with
old friends. Bill and Jean Burr en-
joyed the fellowship as well.

activities
EXETER - Varied entertainment
was -enjoyed by the Seniors during
the month of June. Tune 3, in the
absence of Charolette Blok, Shan-
non Dougherty was the leader. The
Wheelers & Dealers, dance group
of Clinton went through their rou-
tines.. Celebrating Father's Day,
June 10, Blok read a poem "Dad",
Rev. Dan Roushorne with his gui-
tar, and his daughter Becky, sang •
solos and duets. Also Blok and
Rev. Roushorne read aloud the va-
rios comments each senior had
written for "Memories of Our
Dads."'
June 17 a thank you was signed
for the Grade 8 students of Precious
Blood School in appreciation of
their Volunteer services throughout
the year. Some 20 members of the
Classic Tapper from London
showed some fast, fancy footwork
in their tap dancing routines. These
senior ladies, in their attractive cos-
tumes, acted very. professionally.
June 24 bingo was enjoyed with
Blok as caller. The winners were
Humphrey Arthur, Rev. Stewart
Miner, Helen Hindle, Beatrice
Munn, Wilma Davis and Ruth Ar-
thur.
Keyboard players for the month
were Maxine Sereda, Josie Ryck-
man and Wilma Davis. Draw prize
winners were Mildred Thomson,
Allen Buswell, Jennie Harris, Ross
Leakey, Humphrey Arthur, Helen
Hindle, Genie Verkerk, Ken
McNaughton, Lyla Broderic, Don
Travers, Ruth Skinner, Mary Neil

NOTICE OF ROAD CLOSING
NOTICE is hereby given that pursuant to The Municipal Act, .
R.S.O.1990 c.45, Section 297(c), empowers the Council of the
Township of Stephen to pass a by-law to stop up and close:
A portion of the original road allowance known as Side
Road 5 (south Road) between.Concession 5 and 6 in the
Township of Stephen, County of Huron, more particularly
described m Schedule "A" attached hereto. -
The lands comprising that part of the said road allowance
hereby stopped up and closed, shall be subject to easements for
existing sewer, watermain and hydro services on the lands in
question.
That subject to the said easements, the lands comprising that
part of the said road allowance hereby stopped up and closed
shall continue to be vested in the Corporation of the Township
of Stephen to be dealt with'frorn time to time as the Council of
the said Corporation may see fit and deem proper.
And that the Council of the said Corporation will hear, in
person or by counsel, solicitor, or agent, any person who claims
that his land will be prejudicially affected by the said by-law
and who applied to be heard at a meeting to be held at the
Council Chambers, 38 Victoria Street East, Crediton, Ontario in
the. Township of Stephen, County of Huron on the 8th day of
July 1997 at the hour of 5:00 p.rn.
