Area barn lost in fire,
brides feted at showers
Congratulations to Chris
and Gary Eagleson of Zurich
on the arrival of their first
child, a baby boy. born on
Sunday, August 16 at St.
Joseph hospital. He is the
first little grandchild for
Fred and Audrey Haberer
and 4th for Harvey and
Shirley Eagleson of
Greenway.
Uncle George and Aunt
Rosalie Harvey of Redford
Zurich
Caramel Sweeisey
Michigan are presently en-
joying a weeks holiday at
their cottage here at the
lake.
Unexpected company for
the day was had by Harold
and Doreen Dietrich last
Tuesday when the latter's
brother, Lenard Sopha of
Eglin Illinois along with
grandson Jeff and his
girlfriend from Florida were
dinner guests. Also a sister:
Veronica Hartman of
Goderich joined the rest.
David and Maire Gelinas
and three sons enjoyed a
holiday last week at a
friends cottage north of St.
Joseph's.
A nice time was had on
Saturday by those who
helped Joe Kenda Jr. and his
sister Helenia Kenda of Lon-
don celebrate their
birthday's which were only
two days apart (the 12th and
14th). A barbeque was held
at Joe and Marilyn's home in
town.
A lovely bridal shower was
had for Rose -Mary
Meidinger on Sunday at St.
Boniface school gym. She
received several beautiful
and useful gifts which she
thanked everyone present
for, and all enjoyed a nice
lunch. Hose -Mary is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Steve Meidinger and fiance
of Gerard Ducharme.
Misfortune was had again
by Wayne and Sharon
Overholt RR 2 Zurich. when
their barn caught on fire and
was destroyed early Sunday
morning around 4:00 a.m..
killing nearly 500 pigs. We
all feel sorry for the family
and with them well in the
future.

Zurich, on the occasion of
their 25th wedding anniver-
sary which they celebrated
on Saturday at the communi-
ty centre with a dinner and
dance for friends. relatives
and neighbours (the actual
date is on Tuesday. August
25th) . Guests came from
such places as, Calgary. Sud-
bury,- Peterborough. Toron-
to, Kitchener and Zurich
area.
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Greb
accompanied by Dorothy
Breakey and Margaret
Kalbfleisch spent an en-
joyable day, last Wednesday
going for a drive to Elora
viewing the gorge there then
on to Elmira. Stopping into
visit with Mrs. Nancy
Schwartz in Milverton on the
way home. She's formerly of
Hillsgreen.
Jim, Susan Wildfong and
family and Mary and Terri
Farquar spent a day last
week in Toronto going to

All the children from the
playground went by bus on
Monday to the African Lion
Safari in Rockton, as this is
their last week and special
outing for the summer. They
were also accompanied by a
few parents,
A bridal shower was held
at the home of Sandy
Stephen on Saturday in
honor of her niece. Shelly
Stephen of London who is
getting married in
September.
Aunts, uncles and cousins
from town attended the wed-
ding of Ron Gelinas and
Sharon Stevens in London on
Saturday and reception held
at the Sunningdale Country
Club. The groom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gelinas
of London.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred
Overholt and family spent
from Thursday to Sunday in
Collingwoodand Tobermory.
-Mr. and Mrs. Milfred
Overholt of St. Marys are
presently spending two
weeks in town doing some
remolding in the home they
purchased from Mr. and
Mrs. Ferd Haberer on Cen-
tre St.
Wayne Clausius has
returned to his home in
Halifax, Nova Scotia after
visiting with his children
Craig and Marc Clausius, his
parents Mr. and Mrs.
Harvey Clausius, his sisters
Mr. and Mrs. Pat O'Rourke
RR 3, Dashwood and other
relatives in and around
Zurich.
Mr .and Mrs. Jim Willis
and children Chris, Jenny,
and Brent have returned to
their home in Hubbard,
Nova Scotia after visiting
with barb's parents Mr. and
Mrs. Harvey Clausius and
her sister Gwen and Pat
O'Rourke RR 3 Dashwood
and other relatives around
Zurich. They also visited
with Jim's mother, Mrs.
Willis in Goderich.
Bern and John Denomme
and Lee and Rose Regier
spent from Wednesday to
Saturday visiting' with
cousins in Ottawa.
Julie Debus, Josie
Dietrich, Tilly Rau, Joyce
Hoggarth and Veronica
Meidinger and Juliette
Denomme all spent an in-
spiring weekend at a retreat
in Oxley at Holy Family
retreat house.
. Joanne Bridle, Beth
Sweeney, Cathy Overholt,
Pattie Hartman and Leader,
Sue Hartman are spending
this week at Girl Guide
Camp Keewaydin, .past
Goderich, which I'm sure
they will find very in-
teresting and fun.
Mr. and Mrs.: Karl Regier
and family returned home on
Sunday after an enjoyable
months vacation of
travelling. They went as far
as Vancouver and Jasper
Alberta to Drumheller in the
badlands, and saw the
Okanagan valley. Also drove
up the Kootenay Path which
is over 6,000 feet high in the
mountains which they
thought was very breath
taking

be leaving for Edmonton on
Monday August 24, where
she will be living and
working
Farewell to Ed and Donna
Lesperance and family who
moved recently to Hills
Green and have taken over
the store there.
Dorothy -Finkbeiner and
niece Sandra Aubin of
Belmore and Jean and
Clayton Mizen and kids of
Goderich along with Annie
Finkbeiner were dinner
guests with Mr. and Mrs.
Howard Finkbeiner at their
trailer near Bayfield last
Tuesday.
Ron and Sandra Dickert
and friends Larry and Corrie
Moir of Hensall spent last
week camping in tents at
Algonquin Park,
Collingwood and at St.
Peter's Lake.
Ladies of St. Boniface
C.W.L. held their August
meeting on Tuesday night to
make final plans for the pie -
booth at the Bean festival on
Saturday. Also
arrangements to hold a
deanery meeting here on
September 30, for several
other parishes in our
Diocese.
Cathy Merner, Kerri-Lynn
Deitz, Heather Westlake and
Debbie Bedard are presently
attending a two week
summer skating school
course at the Ilderton,
London club. Last week
Sonya Shantz went.
