Zurich ICarmel Sweeiney Barbecue winner The lucky winner of a gas barbecue from a draw at Shaw's Dairy ' store on Saturday was Agnes Willert.(As part of Shaw's 25th anniversary.) Friedsburg days Several people from town enjoyed taking in the activities in Dashwood over the weekend as they were having Friedsberg Days. Desjardines celebrate A music jamboree and barbecue was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Desjardine on Sunday which is part of their annual civic holiday celebration. Changes around town Doug and Mary -Lou Turkheim have moved from their apt.on Walnut St. into the former home of his parents on Main St. And Mary and Terri Farquhar have moved from their home on Walnut St. in- to the Turkheim Apt. Personals Paul Morrison was a patient in St. Joseph hospital for a few days last week. Kevin and Kim Sweeney, Kippen spent the weekend with their grandparents at the cottage, being Mr. and Mrs. Mozert Gelinas Sr. 'A lovely bridal shower was held for Cheryl Denomme given by her bridesmaids on Friday evening at St. Peter's parish hall, St. Joseph. Fifty friends and relatives were on hand to wish Cheryl happiness in the future years. She received several useful and beautiful gifts. A delicious lunch followed. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Denomme and fiancee of Martin Gelinas. They are to be married in September. Congratulations to Otwell Todd who celebrated his 90th birthday on Sunday. He is a resident at the Blue Water Rest Home. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Flaxbard spent a couple of days at the home of their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Flaxbard in Kitchener last week. Terry and Helen Rau, Goderich spent Saturday and Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Rau. Congratulations to Neil and Mary -Ellen Skinner (nee Gingerich) who were married on Friday at. the Zurich Mennonite church. Followed by a delicious meal at the Dominion Tavern. The bride is the daughter of Neil and Gladys Gingerich, RR 3, Zurich, Dr. and Mrs. Ed MacAulay and family of Truro, Nova Scotia and Mr. and Mrs. Clair Zurbrigg of Kitchener have returned home after spending a two week holiday with their mother, Mrs. Beatrice where he broke a vertebra. Congratulations to Gerard and Mary Ducharme who celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Sunday at their home RR 2 Zurich, which began with Mass that was said outside on the front lawn. A family get together and smorgasbord was held with invited guests in the evening. Mrs. Juliette Denomme returned home after visiting with family in Rondeau Park and going to Chatham to Harbor (near Tobermory). They had excellent weather. A Jack and Jill shower was held recently for engaged couple Ron Regier and Laurette McDonald at the Dashwood Community centre, (Ron is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Regier). Steve and Colleen Compo of Windsor spent a couple of days this past week with her Aunt and Uncle, Joe and Rose Regier RR 2 Zurich. Ten year old Randy Regier son of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Regier had the OLD TIMERS FLOAT — Bob Brown, Bob Johnson, Alex Leatherland and George Suplat rode the Has -beans tow vehicle in the 125th anniversary parade. Rader at the cottage of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gascho, which they all enjoyed. The older kids of the playground had fun at a all night campout last Thursday. At Ken Gascho's Park. near town. They enjoyed a hot dog roast and corn on the cob. All returned home in the morning happy, but tired - and as a result went to bed. Anne Besozzi and son Steven of San Francisco are presently spending the month of August with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kane and will be joined later by her husband, and twin sister Barb. Congratulations to Richard and Barbara Ingram (nee Overholt) who were married on Saturday at St. Peters Catholic Church by Father Bensette, with dinner and reception held at the Rec centre in Exeter. Barb is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maxime Overholt, RR 2, Zurich. Don and Elaine Beauchamp and family spent the long weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Beauchamp in Pembroke. Jerome Sweeney returned back to work on Tuesday, at his job with the hospital in Goderich after being off for two months due to an injury UC plans to hold outdoor service Mr. Peter Snell of Exeter has been our speaker for the month of July. Peter's singing (he accompanies himself on the guitar) has been a delightful inspiration, as well as his thought provoking messages. His theme has been "The Church - alive. active and aware." This past Sunday we welcomed our own minister Rev. Laing back again. She has been on a trip to the Holy Land and told us of the places she visited. It was awe inspiring she said to walk in the footsteps of Jesus and to visit the place of his birth. Coming events August 9 Service at 11:15 a.m. Following the service a retirement luncheon for Nita Oesch who is retiring as organist after more than 40 years of service. Members are asked to bring sandwiches or cookies or squares for the potluck luncheon. Sunday, August 16th - 10:30 a.m. - at Zurich. Outdoor service for Dashwood and Zurich. Please bring lawn chairs. Then onto Kitchener where she attended the 25th wedding anniversary of her son, Joe and Marlene Denomme, and spent a few days there after calling on various members of her family. Maura Gascho has returned home from Hutchinson Kansas after being away for a year working as a child care worker. and will be spending a three week vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Gascho and sisters and families. Twelve members of the ld Timers hockey team had at a summer party over e weekend held at the cottage of one of the players, Bob Morsley at Johnston misfortune of an accident at his home last Thursday and as a result broke a bone between his knee and hip (femer) and is in traction at St.Joseph'sHospital, London and expects to be there for about five weeks. We wish him a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Gelinas, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Corriveau and Mr. and Mrs. Mozart Gelinas Sr. were amoung those who went to a family dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dietrich in Centralia on Sunday. Mrs. Seleda Steckle returned home after an enjoyable bus trip to Ohio, visiting with her daughter and family Ferne, Lloyd, Heidi and Bradly Mumaw. Also visited Joanne and Roger Eberly in their new home. MR. AND MRS. RICK INGRAM St. Peters Parish, Zurich was the setting for the August 1 wed- ding of Barbara Overholt and Rick Ingram. The bride is the daughter of Marcella Overholt of RR 2, Zurich, and the groom's parents are Ray and Pauline Ingram of RR 2, Hensall. Father Bensette officiated. Dianne Revington of Lucan was maid of honour, and bridesmaids were Nora West, Bayfield, Darlene Prouse, Clinton, Julie Regier, RR 3, Zurich and Lisa Overholt, RR 2, Zurich. Best man was Tony MacDonald of Clinton. Dan Crerar, Hensall, Sandy Ingram, Hensall, Gary Koehler, Kippen and Kevin Overholt, Zurich ushered guests. The couple is residing at RR 2, Hensall.
