PLAYGROUND FLOAT — Children from the chamber of commerce sponsored Zurich
playground entered this float in the Zurich fair parade Saturday.
Kids at playground hold
get acquainted' .week
By DONNA TURKHEIM,
KELLY KIRK AND
MARK STEPHAN.
This week was get
acquainted week.
On Monday, we were not
only introduced to new
people, but also to new
games, songs and a new
book, Tales of a Fourth
Grade Nothing, from which
we read a chapter each day.
On Tuesday we went to a
Playday in Seaforth. We
played all sorts of relays,
about twenty in all! After the
day was over we got a Mr.
Freeze and if you wanted
more you had to run around
the field twice! Thanks to the
volunteer drivers - you were
great.
Wednesday was the big
Scavenger Hunt. Now we
should have enough supplies
for the next two
playgrounds!
Since these days have been
so hot, bobbing for apples
was welcomed on
Ttnir-
sday. Preparation for the
fair float was of major
importance that day. We
were all very proud of the
result.
Roller Skating - something
we want to do everyday - was
the highlight of Thursday.
None of us will forget the
water balloon contest and
which was held on Friday.
Ask one of us to sing the
Playground Theme Song!
Juniors
Give us any song and we'll_
sing it!
Especially if it has actions
in it. Our favourite this week
is Alice the Camel.
With the puppets we made
on Thursday, we put on a
puppet show for each other.
The popcorn and bubble gum
which followed was
delicious.
On Wednesday - to our
surprise - we were given
paints and brushes and were
told that we'd have a foot
decorating contest . A game
of hide and seek in the arena
quickly used up some of our
extra energy. A few glasses
of freshie and we were ready
to go again.
Thursday was the day to
express our artistic talent,
when we painted pictures to
be proudly taken home.
T -ball - a new game to
some of us - started us on the
road to our baseball career.
Friday got us thinking
seriously since the theme of
our float for the fair was the
Year of the Disabled, it was
appropriate that he leaders
taught us some basic sign
language used by the deaf.
We all sang the theme
song and wondered what
we'd do next week
