Varna. by Mary CI II Rostock Family Day The Chessells attenaea a "Family Day" held by the Rostock Athletic Association on Sunday. Good country music was provided by local musicians throughout the afternoon and early evening, and there were races fro the children, duck races, clowns, etc. and a porek barbecue. It was a very very en- joyable community day, with four generations of some families there. A ball game wound up the day. A similar program might be a good idea for some com- munities in this area. Miss Evelyn Chessell of Mitchell is holidaying with her brother Bill and family. Steamers runners-up The Stanley Steamers went to the finals in the B series of the Winthrop Slo- pitch tournament on the weekend, then lost to the Staffa-Cromarty team. Community News The Recreation Com- mittee would like to express its appreciation for the load of gravel donated and delivered by Gerald Horton to the township ball park. Things are pretty quiet around the village this week, with several children in church camp at Menesetung, and others spending their mornings at Brucefield Vacation Bible School. Eight of the nine surving members of the family of ten and many of their descendants were present, 58 in number. People were there from as far away as Owen Sound, London and Brantford. Bill and Joyce Dowson, Bonnie and Mrs. Margaret Dowson attended Brenda's. graduation at Fanshawe College. Eric and Sharon Chuter, Tannis and Sherri attended LUMBER KINGS - - Paddy Bedard wore an original lumber Kings uniform at the old -timbers ball game, Wednesday. Lynn Reder's wedding in Leamington on June 28 and stayed over Sunday to visit with relatives. Lynn is Sharon's cousin. Gospel Echoes at Zurich church The Gospel Echoes singing group with a prison Ministry, - gave a program at the local Mennonite church last Wednesday evening. Besides music, slides were also shown of their work with prisoners showing how many have been helped through the gospel message and Bible Study Correspondance course. The group travels in both the U.S.A. and Canada. Shilbe reunion held at Shipka Sixty-nine descendants of the late Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Schilbe, of Zurich, gathered Sunday at Shipka Communi- ty Centre for the 24th annual Schilbe reunion picnic. Nancy and Larry Schilbe were in charge of sports and games. •Mrs. Emma Schilbe of Zurich won a prize for -the most grandchildren. Relatives attended from Detroit. Zurich, Stratford, Bayfield, Thedford and Goderich. Officers elected for 1982 are: president, Bill Schade; secretary, Sharon Baker; sports committee, Ken and " Carol Baker. Touching or coming close to hydro wires can be fatal. If kites or model airplanes contact over- head lines, even touching the string or control wire can cause serious injury.
