niversary parade, Saturday. It is owned by Orland Reichert of Hensall. Of the unique
design Reichert says, "they were so far ahead of their time, they didn't know what they
were doing."
School well attended
A tremendously successful
Vacation Bible School «w:,
held this past week in the
United Church with one
hundred and twenty-six
students and teachers at-
tending each morning.
The theme for the school
was "I Love Jesus, Jesus
Loves Me" and each day the
same scripture background
was used for all departments

bringing continuity to the
study for the whole school.
Gail Shaw was in charge of
the music, , teaching the
children many new songs
relating to the theme, Joyce
Pepper assisted her on the
piano.
On Friday morning,
following the sessions, the
parents and friends were
invited to view the childrens
works which was followed by
the children singing the
songs they had learned as
well as telling about their
study for the week through
drama, songs and readings.

from Fanshawe College, Vic-
toria Campus, Monday, June
29. She has joined the nur-
sing staff at Victoria
Hospital, London. She was a
former candy striper at South
Huron Hospital having com-
pleted 500 hours of service.

leaders for helping to make
the school such a success.
Also a thank you to all the
ladies who sent cookies.
Special thanks to all the
leaders who stayed following
the school to clean up and
leave the church so neat and
tidy.
Church service
Chiselhurst and Hensall
United Church held their
service on Sunday July 5 at
11 a.m. with Rev. Stanley
McDonald conducting. Miss
Agnes Bray was at the piano
and organ.
A lovely solo was sung by
Mrs. Belva Fuss, "That's
How I Know." Flowers on
the Communion table were
from the wedding of Faye
Whiting and Dwight Kin-
sman. Ushers were Steve
Corbett and Ross Veal. Mrs.
Florence greeted everyone
at the front door.
For the next two Sundays,
July 12 and 19, there will be
no service at the United
Church while the minister is
away on holidays. The
congregation will join with
the Presbyterians in Carmel
Church at 10:15 each Sunday
morning.

U.C. picnic
The annual picnic Hensall
United Church was held on
Sunday, June 28 on the lawn
of the church following the
morning service. The picnic
was pot luck and a splendid
lunch was enjoyed by all
present.
Following the,meal, sports
arranged by Joan Alexander
and her committee were held
for the young people and the
young at heart, and winners
were: walking on paper
plater, Mark Tinney, tug -o -
war, team leaders Cathy
Herbert and Mary Jane
Parsons- each team won
once. Sack race, Pam
Gackstetter. Guessing the
time on the boxed clock -
Mark Tinney. Water balloon
game, .Mark and Mathew
Tinney. Eating raisins,
cotton balls on a straw and
potato race- Pam Ger-
stenkorn team. Guessing the II
number of raisins in a jar,
Linda Gerstenkorn.
The service was conducted II
by Rev. Stanley McDonald
who preached on "What does II
it mean to be a Christian?"
There are three main aims,
live a Christ -centered life,
IIlive a Christ -disciplined life
and live a Christ -changed
life. God gives new Peace for
the old confusion and love
predominates over
everything.
Mrs. Joyce Pepper was at
the piano and tl-e service
began with a hymn sing. The
children's talk was about not
being` afraid to pray.
Greeting at the front door
was Mrs. Florence Slade and
ushers were Steve Corbett
and Ross Veal.
Our thanks to the various
committees and helpers who
looked after preparing,
serving and clearing up the
meal, and to all who
arranged and conducted the
sports.

The goal of the Ontario
Association for the Mentally
Retarded is "that retarded
people live in a state of
dignity, share in all elements
of living in the -community
and -have the opportunity to
participate effectively.".
In order to attain this goal,
the South Huron and District
Association for the Mentally
Handicapped sponsors the
following services: Huron
Hope Nursery, ARC
Industries, South Huron
Bakery, Residential and
Support Services.
This year, three new
positions have been
developed to assist in
community integration of
mentally retarded persons.
The job placement officer
helps the handicapped
person to find a community
job and then provides
followup once they are
working. The marketing
and sales Representative
distibutes goods and ad-
vertises services that are
available from ARC
Industries and South Huron
Bakery. The, public
Education and--- awareness
co-ordinator is available to
speak -to groups about the
reaching
the unreached

Mr. Charles Mickle,
Hamilton spent a few days
last week visiting with his
mother Mrs. Laird Mickle.
Mrs. Bertha MacGregor
returned home after a
pleasant visit with Mr. and
Mrs. Don Mac Laren,Jodi and
Brooke, in Oakville.
Mr. Ernie Davis who has
been a patient in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London, returned
to his home.

Association's services and
on the prevention of mental
retardation.
Four athletes from ARC
Industries are busy training
for the Canadian Special
Olympics on July 16 in
Ottawa.
The Association's Annual
meeting was held at South
Huron Recreation Centre on
June 17. At this meeting, 47
International Year of
Disabled Person's Logo pins
were sold. The proceeds go
to help sponsor our athletes.
Five students have been
hired to assist with summer
programs at ARC Industries
and the Nursery School.
These students are spon-
sored on short term projects
by Summer Canada and
John Labatts Ltd.
