HomeMy WebLinkAboutZurich Citizens News, 1981-07-02, Page 10Page 10 Citizens News July 2, 1981 Church honors Sunday School graduates Sunday School students were honoured at a special church service on Sunday when diplomas and seals were presented to those who have completed 32 Sundays Varna by Mart Ciassall of study. Other students received awards last Christmas. Kindergarten teachers Shirley Hill and Joan Beierling presented a 1st year diploma .to Raymond Beierling; 2nd year seal to Mark Webster; 3rd year to Brian Hill and 4th year to Mary Ellen Webster. Promoted to the primary class were Brian Hill, Mary Ellen Webster, Krista McAsh, Cheryl Cheryl Stephenson, Craig and Patricia McAsh and Tanya' Postill. Primary class teachers are Lynda Postill and Dianne Kirton. Krista McAsh and Susan Kirton received 5th year seals. Promoted to junior were Paul Hill and Jason McAsh. Pat Taylor and Brian Chessell were the junior class teachers. Lee Norman received his 2nd year seal, Scott Kirton his 4th, Darryn McAsh his 7th and Nancy Webster her 8th year seal. Promoted to Senior class were Jim Hill, Scott Kirton, Robyn Norman, Scott Mc- Ash cAsh and Myra Postill. Senior teachers were Joyce Webster her 10th and Jeanette Keys and Jacqui Taylor their 6th year seals. Superintendents Jim Kirton and Joe Laurie an- nounced those achieving near perfect attendance , were Julie and Nancy Webster, Scott and Susan Kirton, Darryn and Krista McAsh, and Mary Ellen and Mark Webster. Some new teachers are required for the fall session. Rev. Wilena Brown's- sermon for the children was "How to Live a Christian Life". The basket of flowers in the sanctuary was from the funeral of Melvin Elliott. We offer our sincere sympathy to Margaret _ and their family. Personals We'd like to welcome Bob and Margaret Reid as permanent residents in their new home near Varna. They sold their house in Wallacebutg, and moved here last Saturday. Charles and Bernice attended Bob's retirement party in Wallaceburg on June 13. Darren Alexander, bronze; House league turn -out good for Hully Gully Minor Motocross in Huron County is booming and young athletes turned out in record numbers in the last regular Hully Gully House League race before the Mid - Season Championships on July 4, 1981. Competing in 12 amateur classes from eight year old mini-enduro to the old timers, 30 and up the class by class results are as follows: Pee Wee A- Scott Wilson of London, Allan Klein of Tavistock, and Mark Allen of London.Pee Wee B- Lee Watt of Shipka, Dave Handy of Sarnia, and Kelly Peev of Sarnia. Pee Wee C- Shawn Talbot of Goderich, Jimmy Dickins of Hensall, and Steve Bulovsky of Simcoe. Novice B- Sean Sands of London, Paul Vig of London, and Richard Worrall of Dor- chester. Novice C- Dean Watt of Shipka, Brian Black- burn, of Exeter, and Mike Hersey of London. Junior A- Bernie Smits of Sarnia, Paul Van Oss of Exeter, and Hugo Maaskant of Clinton. Junior B- Jeff Devereaux of Corunna, Stu Galloway of London, and Sean Van Dongen of Clinton. Junior C - Dave McGregor of Kippen, and Steve Malpage of London. Enduro A- Steve Williams of Bayfield, and Murray Pickard of London. Enduro B- Mike Maaskant of Clinton, Kelly Peev of Sarnia, and Scott Lovie of Exeter. Enduro mini- Ken Schaes.
