Seniors celebrate week with dinner
Well over 150 friends and
relatives of residents at the
Blue Water Rest Home en-
joyed a delicious ham and
turkey smorgasbord with all
the trimmings complete with
Zurich
Carmel Sweeney
strawberry shortcake on
Sunday. Also helping them to
celebrate Father's Day as
`well as Senior Citizens week.
Mr. and Mrs. Risi are to be
commended on a job well
done, everything went very
smoothly and was well
organized. Music was
provided for those waiting
their turn.
Dominion Hotel take-over
Congratulations to David
and Marie Gelinas on the
complete take-over of the
Dominion Tavern and would
like to welcome bartender
Louie Willert who has re-
joined the staff (after being
away for awhile), is looking
forward to seeing all his old
friends again.
St. Boniface CWL
The ladies C.W.L. of St.
Boniface held their June
meeting Last Tuesday with
quite a good turn out.
Several upcoming events
were discussed and planned.
The members served
lunch to the grade 8
graduating class (17 of
them) and their families and
friends on Wednesday, 24th,
also presenting each one
with a rosary.
A bus trip to Our Lady of
the Rosary Shrine in St.
Marys will take place on
Monday July 13. Anyone in-•
terested in going can phone
Pearl Miller at 237-3554 for a
seat ($3.00 each).
Paper drive
Remember the paper
drive today (25th) to be
ready on curb for 6:30 p.m.

Father Dick Bedard of
Toronto, Mr. and Mrs.

attended the wedding of
their niece, Patty Ann
Merner, in London on Satur-
day. Little Sarah Vanos was
flower girl (granddaughter
of Beattie and Clarence) .
Welcome to our new
neighbours on Bismark St.
Don and Elaine Beauchamp
and family who moved into
the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Allan Gascho last Wednes-
day and in twin - Isobel and
Allan have taken up
residence in their apartment
above the store for the time
being.
Best wishes for a speedy
recovery are extended to
those patients in South
Huron Hospital Exeter, Glen
Thiel, Beatrice Overholt,
Verda Baechler and Jerome
Sweeney also to Seth
Amanns who is a patient in
Goderich Hospital.

nia along with Mrs. James

cent guests with Nap and
Laurene Corriveau.
The first PTA executive of
St. Boniface _ school was
elected last week for the
next school term.

treasurer, Maxwell Hall;
secreatry, Patsy Meidinger
with Counsellor, Evelyn
Regier.
Carmel Beth and Renee
Sweeney spent Saturday
afternoon at a family
farewell barbecue party in
St. Marys for a cousin;
Sister Elaine Noury who is
being transferred to Holy
Rosary Convent in Windsor
after spending six years in
St. Marys at Holy Name of
Mary Parish. Also attending
were relatives from
Leamington and Woodstock.
Heather Sweeney spent
Sunday to Wednesday at
Camp Menesetung,
Goderich, taking a training
course for play ground
leaders, in order for her to
be able to run the Zurich 6 -
week program properly.
Assistant helper; Lori
Turkheim was unable to at-
tend. July the 13th will be
the beginning date.
Fr. Mooney was away
from Monday to Thursday
where he enjoyed being at a
class reunion ('56) in
Regina, and meeting up with
a lot of his priestly friends.
Congratulations to Gerald
and Mary Ellen Zielman
(nee Steckle) who were
married on Saturday at the
Mennonite Church, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton
Steckle, RR 1, Zurich and
son of Mr. and' Mrs. Dick
Zielman, RR 2, Dashwood.
Congratulations to Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Adkins who
recently celebrated their
63rd wedding anniversary,
and are presently staying
with their daughter in
Goderich.
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Thiel
and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Reichert returned home
from an enjoyable and rest-
ful train trip to
Saskatchewan were they
spent two weeks visiting
with a sister Mary Mae and
family, also their brother,
Truman Fisher.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Clarke are
happy to announce the
arritral of their grandson
who was born on June 18 to
parents, Heather and Ron
Clarke of Huron Park.
Also Mr. and Mrs. Louie
Schilbe are happy to an-
nounce the arrival of their
third grandchild, a girl, who
was born on June 18 to proud
parents, David and Irene
Schilbe of New Castle, New
Brunswick, this being the
couples second daughter.
A family barbeque of Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Regier
celebrating Fathers Day
was held on Sunday at their
daughters, Marilyn and Al
Hern in Kirkton besides two
highschool graduations be-
ing Pat and Donna Regier.
- Joe and Rose also attend-
ed the wedding of their
nephew Michael Boland in
London on Saturday, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Boland.

parents Larry and Barb
Regier, RR 2 Zurich on the
arrival of their fifth child - a
boywho Was born on June 18
at Victoria Hospital London.
A grandson for Mrs. Lydia
Regt'er.
Members of the Women's
institute were guest at a pic-
nic last week in Port Blake
along with other clubs from
the Huron County area.
Mr. and Mrs. Less
Usherwood of Toronto along
with relatives from England
spent the weekend at their
cottage near the lake, (north
of St. Joseph) .
Mrs. Juliette Denomme
had company for a few days
last week also attending the
funeral of Lloyden
Denomme who's funeral was
on Friday at St. Peters
Church, St. Joseph.
Golden
Although it is offically
summer, it is not very
convincing with the cool
rainy weather we are ex-
periencing.
This is Senior Citizens'
Week. On Wednesday af-
ternoon, a bus load of our
residents spent the afternoon
in Vanastra and were en-
tertained along with the
other senior citizens of the
area. A programme of
music, dancing and singing
was enjoyed by all who at-
tended and refreshments
were served.
The sympathy of residents
and staff is extended to the
family of the late Mr. Fred
Gibson, a long time resident
of the Home.
We regret that Mr.
Rudolph Stade is a patient in
St.Joseph'sHospital , London,
and Mrs. Beatrice Overholt
is still a patient in South
Huron Hospital, Exeter.
Bingo was played on
Friday evening, followed by
refreshments.
The regular Chapel service
was conducted on Saturday
evening because of the
family dinner on Sunday.
Rev. Jack Dressler of St.
Peter's Lutheran Church,
Zurich conducted the ser-
vice.
Our semi- annual family
dinner was held on Sunday
afternoon. As usual we had a
large attendance as
Glimpses .
residents and their families
gathered to enjoy our usual
delicious smorgasbord style
dinner.
During the afternoon, we
were fortunate in having Mr.
George Jeater of Exeter
provide organ music also the
Verlinde sisters, Joanne and
Diane of Hensall, who
pleased the visitors with
accordian solos and .duets.
All in all, it was a very en-
joyable afternoon.
