Doris Wilson Varna by Mary GheasrU welcomed everyone and in- troduced the program numbers. A ukulele group directed by Marjorie Hayter played and sang a medley of tunes, and Julie Webster played a piano solo, "You Light Up My Life." The Varna Players did a fast -paced and hilarious skit on the scene at Grant and Elva's on the morning of the wedding. Highlights were Elva's three -foot -long list of things to be done, and the strange article Cheryl's sisters found in the bride's Medical centre is underwa At the meeing of the Dashwood and Area Medical committee meeting Thurs- day evening all members Dashwood Mrs. Irvin Rader were wearing happy smiles. A bulldozer has begun work at the building site and the result of many meetings and discussions is now visible in the beginning of the new Medical Centre building. A rummage sale will be held Saturday June 27, sell- ing to begin at 11 a.m. Anyone having articles 'to donate please call 237-3412 or 237-3606 or bring to the Dashwood community cell: tre pavilion Saturday in time for marking. With all of the writing and acting talent in the Varna and Goshen com- munities, there should be a play performed every winter. Someone to initiate and organize it is the only thing needed. June Webster read an ad- dress of good wishes and Cheryl was presented with many lovely and useful gifts, for which she graciously thanked everyone. There will be an open house at the Websters on Thursday, June 25 to view the gifts. Varna Church news Ivan McClymont was in- ducted as the new elder in a ceremony at Varna church on Sunday. In Rev. Wilena Brown's report on con- ference, she informed us that Rev. Alex Taylor was among those who were for- mally retired in a special service, which he was un- able to attend. This coming Sunday, Rev. Norman Pick of Clinton is the guest preacher. There will be a children's story, followed by a film in the Sun- day School room for all of the children. The June meeting of Var- na U.C.W. opened with a "Recipe for Faith" by presi- dent Doris -Wilson. Bernice Reid and Joan Stephenson's devotional was on the theme of faith. Reports were given by secretary Dianne Kirton and treasurer Margaret Hayter. A thankyou note from Janet Oesch of Goshen for the shower gift was read by Helen Taylor. We would appreciate in- formation as to where teacups in Johnson Bros. "Bridal Wreath" pattern can be obtained to replace those that have been cracked or broken. Margaret Hayter and Margaret Hunt were ap- pointed to purchase a dehumidifier for the church basement. The Fall Regional meeting will be in Walton on Oct. 8. A fall thankoffering meeting will be held in Varna on Oct. 1 with neighbouring U.C.W. groups invited. Joyce Dowson, Dianne Kirton and Doris Wilson attended a workship in Seaford' and gave a report on it. Margaret Hunt, Joyce and Doris attended the Visitor's Day in Brucefield, where the guest speaker was Ida White, for many years a missionary in India. They also enjoyed the special music by the Huron Strings. A scrumptious array of cheesecakes were served by Bernice and Joan. Pat Nor- man and June Webster, who were unable to be present, helped prepare the ,cheesecakes. 56 -pitch an Sunday, June 14, the Stanley Steamers play the Zurich Cobras in Zurich. Personals Janice Webster has been accepted by the Conestoga School of Nursing, Stratford campus, and will begin her studies' there in late August. Jim and Dianne Kirton attended a performance by the Black Light Puppeteers in Goderich. This troupe is entirely made up of mentally disabled people. It was an excellent show, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
