Karen Louise Volland and Paul George Shanks were married
at St. Boniface church, Zurich on May 30. The bride is the
daughter of Keith and Dorothy Volland 'and the groom's
parents are Howard and Jessie Shanks. Trudy Vanden-
boomen, Hensall, was maid of honour, and bridesmaids were
Louise Regier, Zurich, Cathy Doerr, Walkerton, Usa Volland
Hensall and Janet Maes, Exeter. Keith Shanks, Kippen, was
best man. Guests were ushered by Doug Volland, Hensall,
Norm Smits, Port Elgin, Lyle Campbell, Bluevale and Philippe
Maes, Exeter. Flowergirl was Patricia Bentley of Sfielbourne,
and Jeff Doerr of Walkerton was ring bearer. Father Mooney
officiated at the ceremony and, organist was Patricia

Auxilliary picnic
at Bluewater Home
The warm June days that
we have been experiencing
have been enjoyed by the
residents who are able to sit
out on the patio.
On Monday afternoon,
some of our residents at-
tended the public school
programme at- the Zurich
echool auditorium and were
very impressed.
On Tuesday afternoon, the
annual June picnic was
sponsored by the Ladies
Auxiliary. A fashion parade,
featuring kitchen gadgets
was put on by Mrs. Belle
Merner, Verda Baechler,
Gertrude Fleischauer,
Martha Ducharme, Mary
Gingerich, Annie Finkbeiner
and Ina Neeb. Mrs. Grace
Martin provided a musical
background. _
Contests were enjoyed
during the afternoon and Mr.
Henry Green and Mr. Joseph
Boland played violins ac-
companied on the piano by
Mr. Alfred Denomme.
A delicious picnic supper
provided by the Ladies
Auxiliary was served to all
the residents and visiting
guests.
We regret that Mr. Alex
Mousseau and Mrs. Beatrice
Overholt are presently
patients in South Huron
Hospital.
Residents who were out
visiting during the week
-Were Mrs. Margaret Pfaff,
Mrs. Ella Drysdale, Mrs.
Alvernia Hill, Mrs. Matilda
Tetreau and Mrs. Eva Thiel.
Bingo was played on
Friday evening followed by
refreshments.
The Sunday evening
chapel service was con-
ducted by - Mr. Clayton
Kuepfer. Mrs, Grace Martin
presided at the organ during
the service.

we let the Spirit guide us, we
can do many thing.
Continuing in - the same
vein 'in her sermon to the
adults she said "There are
many gifts of the Spirit, we
need to recognize them and
use our energy to use these
gifts to build up the church."
The church auditorium
waa filled for the service of
Induction for Rev. Laing on
Sunday evening.
Rev. Brian Elder of
Creditoa led the devotionals
Mr. Ian Laing, brother of
Rev. B. Laing sang "The
Lord's Prayer" most
beautifully.
The Dashwood choir also
sang two numbers.
Rev. Vernon Prouse of
Australia took as his sermon
topic "The three O's." The
first 0 is to be orderly and in
this included the functions of
the minister.
The second 0 is Obedience,
Hearing the word of God and
being obedient to it.The third
O is Originality, you are
called to foretell the gospel.
0 is like an emergency line
you deal with thepeople, your
brother and sister ministers
and you are in com-
munication with God.
Rev. Laing was presented
for induction by the sec. of
Presbytery Rev. Eric
Ledrew of Brussels. Rev. L.
Roberts of Belgrave the took
charge of the induction. He
charged her to love, guide
and counsel her people. He
admonished the
congregation to carry
responsibility for the
spiritual upbuilding of the
church and to do all we can
to advance the work of
Christ in this church.

Saturday afternoon at the
Mennonite Church with a
dinner there afterwards.
Doug is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Carl Oesch and Ruth is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Eugene Fox, both of R.R. 2,
Zurich.
The couple will be living in
Bayfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Geoffrey spent five days
with their sons, Kevin and
Gary Geoffrey and family at
Elliott Lake and enjoyed the
two hour boat ride on the Chi-
Cheemaun from Tobermory.
Flo Murray has sold her
cottage in the Bayview sub-
division on the Bluewater
highway, and is now living in
the Allan Gascho apart-
ments. Wg would like to
welcome her to town!
Monday dinner guests at
the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Jerome Sweeney and family
were the latters aunt Mrs.
Eva Parent from Detroit,
and her niece, Brenda. They
were spending a few days in
London.
