',Golden agers meet
Members of the Golden
Agers club held their June
meeting in the form of a
picnic. Due to the wet
weather plans had to be
changed from the park to the
township hall -- but the 40
that attended had a good
time anyway.
Everyone enjoyed the pot-
luck supper, followed by a
brief business meeting. Then
games and a contest were
played and several draws
were made.
A few rounds of solo and
euchre ended the evening,
and it should. be noted the
next meeting won't be until
September.
Zurich cub pack
The results of a meeting
last Thursday at the Public
School to determine whether
or not a cub pack will be
started in Zurich next
September were quite
favourable.
Already 14 boys have
signed up to join (still room
for more). Contact the
leaders, John DeBlieck at
236-4916 or John Hall at 236-
7792 if interested.
Last Tuesday was the
afternoon meeting and June
picnic at the rest home for
the residents put on by the
auxiliary.
Twenty-five members
were on hand for the
business portion.
Followed by a lovely
program, entertainment of
music, dancing, games and
even a fashion show was put
on by seven ladies of the
committee called a "Picnic
Parade" which was really
enjoyed by all!!
A delicious variety of foods
provided by the auxiliary
ladies for the smorgasbord
supper for everyone finished
off a nice day.

Public School Show
On behalf of the people of
Zurich, I would like to take
this opportunity to
congratulate the public
school pupils, teachers and
principal (Don ,O'Brien) for
putting on the splendid
variety program of songs
and dance. "A Salute to 125
Years" as part of our towns
125th anniversary
celebration.
The two night per-
formances saw a full house,
and a lot of good old
memories came back to life!
as the clothes and music
were dated back as far as
1856 to 1875 with such songs
sung as Whispering Hope.
Others were: 1875-1900 -
Hello My Baby; 1900-1910 -
Merry Oldsmobile; 1910-1920
- War Medleys; 1920-1930 -
Five Foot Two; 1930-1940 -
Sunny side of the Street;
1940-1950 - White Cliffs of
Dover; 1950-1960 - Love Me
Tender; , 1960-1970 - Green
Green Grass of Home; 1970-
1981 - Tie a Yellow Ribbon
Round the Old Oak Tree.
These were only a few of
the great hits that were sung,
and again, thanks to all for a
job well done!
