Those going on the Frankenmuth bus trip are to meet in front of the hardware store. They will be at Huronview Thurs- day, June 25 at noon for Senior Citizens week. The nominating com- mittee is Oscar Pfaff, Mer- vyn Tieman and Mrs. Lloyd Rader. The next.. meeting will be a picnic June 15 with Mrs. Ken McCrae's group in charge. Mrs. Eldeen Wolfe was chairlady for the program. She introduced guest speaker, Doug Carruthers who showed beautiful slides on the Hawaiian Islands. • One visitor, Oscar Pfaff's nephew from the West, attended. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Ken Keller, Lori, Rob and Jim, Goderich, and Mrs. Frieda Keller attended the baptism of her great-grandson Joel Edward Elgin Baker son of Richard and Caroline (Keller) Baker at First Lutheran church, Windsor, last Sunday. Mrs. Frieda Keller also spent a few days with members of her family in London. Mrs. Mayo Mellecke, Mrs. Bill Becker and Mrs. Delmar Miller attended the LWML Christian Growth Retreat at Conrad Greble College University of Waterloo during the weekend. Cubs camp -out The Bayfield Cubs had an overnight camp -out in "Akela", Phil Gemeinhardt's bush, on Fri- day night. Scott Kirton, Jon Lep- pington, Scott, Jason and Darryn McAsh and David Hayter are members of the troop, and Dave Roy and Dale Leppington are leaders. They all had a terrific time, running obstacle courses, taking part in a scavenger hunt based on tILeir nature study, learning to use stilts, and their main project was a 60 -foot -long rope bridge, 20 feet up in the air. &Adpy7q�,.A It was a practise run for the big Huron District Camp at Benmiller this coming weekend when eight or nine hundred kids will gather. Personal fitness will be the camp theme, and they will work for their athlete's badge. Church awared for givings The Varna -Goshen charge of the United Church has received a certificate from the Department of Stewardship Services, under the direction of the Rev. Jewitt Parr, for a more than 10 percent increase in Mis- sion and Service givings in 1980. The increase was ac- tually 33.6 percent. The largest increase was in regular envelope givings. The CGIT girls helped sub- stantially by donating 8260 raised at a dance-a-thon to a kindergarten in Japan. Mrs. Ross Love and Mrs. Kenneth Johns, Exeter, were in Toronto last week attending the 10th Inter- national Senior Citizens Congress at the Prince Hotel where seniors from all over the world were represented. The Congress was opened by the Hon. John B. Aird Lieutenant Governor of On- tario. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Nutt, Paul and Rachael attended the 50th wedding anniver- sary of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Nutt, Woodstock. It was a great day with family and friends. Mrs. Gordon Bender, Mrs. Eben Weigand, Mrs. Mervyn Tieman, Mrs. Valentine Becker and Mrs. Irvin Rader attended the Huron South District Annum at Seaforth United Church' Thursday, May 21. Joe Bruce gave a birthday party for his wife Theada on the occasion of her 70th birthday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hayter, Sun- day. Attending were Mrs. Grace Beavis, Mr. and Mrs. John Snider, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hayter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert .Hayter and David, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Maguire and boys, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Desjardine and girls, Mr-. and Mrs. John Hayter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hayter (jr) and family, Jayne and Tom Hayter, Elaine Overholt and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hayter. Mrs. Elgin Rader catered to a delicious meal. Mrs. Bruce received beautiful gifts and a good time was had be all. She received phone calls from her nephews, Rick Hayter, New York, and Jeff Hayter, Toronto.
