There're also hoping all the member's have returned Zurich Carmel Sweeney from the sunny south and will be able to join them. A family barbecue steak dinner birthday party and farewell was held on Sunday at the home of Dave and Carolyn Stark. Celebrating a birthday was his mother, Mrs. Theresa Stark. While his brother and wife Tim and Heather Stark and 2 boys from Auburn were leaving on Monday to live in Calgary. Those helping to celebrate the occasions were, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Bedard and fami- ly, Zurich, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Stark, and Mr. and Mrs. George Bedard, Goderich. Steven Stark, St. Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. John Denomme, Rose, Lee and Louise Regier, Zurich. Public School program The staff and students of the Zurich Public School are presenting a special program "A Salute to 125 Years" on Tuesday, June 2 and Wednesday, June 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the school auditorium. This program of song and d dance which is in honour of Zurich's 125th birthday, will pay tribute to the founding fathers of the area. Advance tickets for either evening are available for $1.00 by contacting the school office at 236-4942 or one of the older students. SOth anniversary Congratulations to Louis and Theresa Ducharme, RR 2, Zurich who celebrated their 50th wedding an- niversary on Saturday. It began with a Mass in the afternoon at St. Peter's Church, •St. Joseph, with singing done by a grandson, Gary Ducharme, St. Peters seminary. The well known couple have 14 children, 47 grand- children and two great- grandchildren. A delicious meal was held at the Hensall community centre with approximately 350 friends and relatives attending the closed reception with music sup- plied by Mozarts Melody Makers. They came from various places as, Saskatchewan, United States, Burlington, Kincardine, London, Goderich, Clinton and the Zurich area. Telegrams and messages of congratulations were received from William Davis, Premier of Ontario, MPP Jack Riddell, member of parliament; Governal General of Canada, Ed Schreyer and Murray Cardiff. Prime minister of Canada Pierre Trudeau; and leader of the opposition, Joe Clarke. Several beautiful gifts were received which the couple would like to thank everyone for, especially to their son, Charlie, who presented them with a brand new car. Mrs. Cecilia Haden of Bayview, was the only one attending from the original wedding party. Paper pick-up The torch -bearers will be collecting your paper today (Thursday) at 6:30, so please have them out ready at the curb on time. Sheridan Villa Conference Annie Finkbeiner, Marie Gelinas Sr. and Cecelia Farwell represented the auxiliary from the rest -home along with Mr. Risi and ladies from Huronview, Clinton, when they went by van, to Mississauga last Thursday to a conference at the Sheridan Villa. With Class goes fishing The Sunday school class which Allan Scott teaches enjoyed a fishing expedition and barbecue lunch on Sun- day. A most enjoyable time was had by all. In her talk to the children Ms Laing spoke of Jesus, the Shepherd of. the sheep, and of Jesus, the door of salva- tion. Again, to the adults she spoke on Jesus, the way and the life. He is preparing us to know union with the Father. His healing touch flows through us. Coming Events Sunday May 31, 2:30 p.m., Dedication and Memorial service at the Dashwood cemetery. Sunday June 7, 8 p.m. In- duction service at Zurich U.C. topics being on the care for the elderly which they found were very enlightening and informative. Congratulations to Jerome and Marie Denomme who celebrated their 35th wed- ding anniversary on Saturday with a family dinner at the Dominion Tavern. FRANK VANAAKEN St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church, Zurich was the setting for the May 15 wedding of Frank VanAaken and Judy Ducharme. The bride is the daughter of Matthew and Martha Ducharme, Zurich, and the groom's parents are Gerald and Chatherine VanAaken, RR 3, Bayfield. Father Paul Mooney officiated. Music was provided by Ted and Carol Ducharme and Bert MacLachlan, with Gerry Ducharme playing guitar. Marianne McIver of Owen Sound was matron of honour, and bridesmaids were Monica Restemayer, Rosemary Meidinger, and Mary Ellen VanAaken. Best man was Joe Boyle, St. Augustine. Guests were ushered by Harold VanAaken, Pete Wild and Dan Ducharme. After a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, the couple are residing in Zurich. Mrs. Delores Schilbe and her father, Bruce Steeper of Parkhill flew to Newcastle , New Brunswick last week were they visited with her son, David and daughter-in- law Irene Schilbe and grand- daughter, Sabrina.
