A large number of people from the surrounding area were present along with the dignataries from our local municipal offices, as well as the provincial and federal governments; also John A. Doherty the program officer from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation; the architect, Victor Marsh of Marsh Associates, and Dave Grant, contractor, Tonda Construction. We also wish to say thank you to Lewis Boahart, masterof ceremonies; the members of the Z urich. choir :. Ron Heimrich, soloist; Dorothy Steckle; director and Grace Martin, accompanist; and to the local clergy for their, part in the dedication ceremonies. The members of ladies auxiliary were on hand to serve coffee and refresh- ments to all the guests, as they so often are, and this was very much appreciated. Glliiipses We are indeed grateful to all who played a part in making the afternoon so successful. Since all the apartments have been occupied since their completion, it was not possible for us to have an open house as we did not wish to infringe upon the privacy of the residents of the apartments. However, through the courtesy of some of the residents; some of the visitors did see the apart - 'tents. Last Wednesday evening, the ladies off Grand Bend Catholic church sponsored the April birthday party. The residents enjoyed the musical programme as well as the delicious birthday cake and ice cream which waS served. Residents having bir- thdays during the month of April were Mrs. Martha Miller, Mr. Wellington Riehl, Mrs. Alice Thompson, Mrs. Eva :Thompson and , Mrs. Myrtle Woodford. Birthday gifts, courtesy of the ladies auxiliary were presented. The annual Mothers Day Tea and bake sale will be held on Saturday, May 9 in the dining room from 2 to 4 p.m. We hope you will find your way Clear to attend. The Sunday evening chapel service was con- ducted ; by Mr. Lloyd Morgan. Mrs. Pearl Ann Martin played the accordion and accompanied the trio Doreen and Earl Oesch and Miss Mary Lou Erb. Mrs. Martin also presided at the organ during the service. Baptism at Dashwood Jennifer Margaret, and Melissa Evelyn, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Miller were baptized in Zion Lutheran Church Sunday May 3 by Rev. M. Mellecke. Sponsors were Joseph and Margaret Dumigan and Ron and Judy Dougall. Dashwood Mrs. Irvin Rader Senior citizens from Dashwood attended the zone rally at Vanastra April 28.. Please note: the next meeting of Dashwood Seniors will be Tuesday May 19. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Rader were Sunday , visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Miller and girls, Zion. Mrs. Karen Pedersen has returned home after spen- ding the winter months in California with her daughters Karen and Martha and families. CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATIONS The Township of Hay and the Township of Stephen have entered into a water Ser- vice Agreement with the Ministry of the Environment for the Dashwood Water Work System, Project No. 5-0265. The Date of Substantial Completion was May 31, 1980 from which date the twelve-month maintenance period became effective. The Commencement Date for the Project was July, 1980 a notified by the Ministry of Environment. Dashwood water system frontage and connection charges are recoverable from landowners annually and payable to the Province of Ontario 1981-2019 annually in the amount of $2,006 $2. 006 The percentage of tax arrears from 1980 is 5.7% of the current levy, the lowest in arrears since 1968. Pall bearers. were Hugh and Roy Morenz, Bob and George Maier, Ron Fritzley and Bev Genttner. Flowers in the church Sun- day were placed by the fami- ly in loving memory. There were also flowers from the Salmon family. New MOH appointed Dr. Harry Cieslar, M.D. of Goderich has been appointed acting Medical Officer of Health for Huron County to replace Dr. Brian Lynch who has taken . a position as Medical Officer of Health with the Sudbury and District Health Unit. Dr. Cieslar will become assistant Medical Officer of Health effective May 19. Dr. Lynch's association with the Huron Health Unit will terminate May 31 and Dr. Cieslar will become acting Medical Officer of Health for a three month period June 1, subject to the approval of the Ministry of Health. Dr. Cieslar will be studying the Master of Health Science course at the University of Toronto to train for the position of Medical officer of Health. Dr. Lynch has looked into the possibility of the Huron Health Unit being aligned with the University of Western Ontario Medical Faculty for Medical Officer Health Trainees. The Faculty of Medicine appears interested in the suggestion that Huron Health Unit be an ideal for Medical Officer of Health training which would allow Dr. Cieslar to do his MOH training with the Huron Health Unit. PLAN ANNUAL The Annual Educational Meeting of the Huron Perth Lung Association will be held in the multi-purpose room of the Perth District Health Unit at 7:30 p.m. on Wed- nesday May 27. The speaker will be Ross Reid, Executive Director of the Ontario Lung Association.
