The contest is open to children aged 6 to 12. There are two age groups, 6 to 9 years and 10 to 1.2 years. The contest is now in full swing and all entries must be at the Zurich Branch Library by closing time Saturday, May 9, 1981. The entries in the drawing con- test must appear on an 81 by 11 inch piece of paper available at your local branch library. Prizes will be awarded in both age groups. The win- ning drawings will be dis- played at the Suncoast Mall during National Book festival May 11 to 17. Good luck to all participants! The draw for the reading contest at the library was made on Saturday, April 18. Winner of the chocolate Easter egg was Jennifer Morrison of Zurich. The se- cond prize, candied Easter eggs, was won by Chris Goodliffe of RR 2 • Zurich. Congratulations! Hay assessment to be explained Continued from front page their efforts to establish a housing project for seniors. Reeve Lloyd Mousseau told council of the situation at the past Huron County council meeting where it was voted to alter the method of tax assessment. Hay Township's requisi- tion increases about 45 per- cent. Council will ask a representative of the county assessment office to attend a council meeting to explain the reasoning and the methods of the new assess- ment. Those helping in the kitchen were kept busy at Wednesday's Chamber of Commerce sauerkraut supper. Zurich United Easter service well attended The Easter morning ser- vice was well attended. In her talk to the children Ms. Laing explained the meaning of the emply cross. Further, in her talk to the adults she enlarged on the subject of the cross. This reminds us of His love for us, and also of thefullnessof life. We must shape our lives according to His way. We are invited to attend Zurich spring crusade every night this week at 7:45 p.m. Maplewoods Easter Residents of Maplewoods enjoyed a delicious Easter turkey dinner on Wednesday evening April 15, catered by Berdie Finkbeiner. Special guests for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Josef Risi, Mrs. Elizabeth Gingerich a former resi- dent, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Howe of Cromarty and Mrs. Elizabeth Clegg of La Habra, California and her two daughters. After supper Mr. Howe entertained by playing the bagpipes and along with Joe Boland. played the violin. A group of ladies, Madeline Wisser, Laura Gascho, Blanche Bechard, Lyl Dinnin, Merle Corriveau and Connie Lewis, dressed in fancy Easter bonnets, sang a number of pleasing musical selections. They were ac- companied by Meda O'Brien at the piano and Beatrice Rader at the organ. Vic Dinnin showed pic- tures of their recent trip to Hawaii and very ably com- mented on the topic.
