Zion ladies hear Erb speak on Afghanistan
The ladies' Aid -of Zion
Lutheran church met Tues-
day, April 14 for a business
meeting with Mrs. Charles
Martene presiding. ,
Several thank you cards
Dashwood
i Mrs. hull Raider
and donations were read.
The Altar Guild reported
38 visits, sic cards sent, one
flower and three phone calls.
The new guild is Mrs. Hilda
Rader and Mrs. Frieda
Keller.
More equipment has been
-added to the kitchen. A
mother and daughter pot
luck supper will be May 12
with group 1 in charge.
Dedication Sunday was
discussed briefly.
The ladies then motored to
Zurich, where they were
guests of the Lutheran
ladies, to hear Carol Erb
who was employed as
receptionist -secretary at the
Noor Eye institute in Kabul
for eight years. Tile group
for which she worked; the
IAM, evacuated its workers
from Afghanistan early in
February as it is occupied by
Russian troops.
She related many of her
experiences during her stay
there and showed slides of
the people and, country.
During the social time
which followed she . galdly
answered questions from the
ladies. It was a most in -

Sunrise service
Ninety people attended the
sunrise service, prepared by
the youth of _ Zion Lutheran
church, Easter morning. A
service of songs was
presented with the pastor
speaking on "He is Risen".
A breakfast of ham,
scrambled eggs and hot
cross buns followed.

Residents kept busy with Easter
Rev. Wittick conducted the
Sunday morning service
with Mrs. Elsie Henderson at
the organ. The choir sang the
anthem Each Step I Take.

assisted Marie Flynn to
provide Old Tyme Music on
Monday afternoon.
We have had quite a few
orders for Easter rabbits
and the ceramic class was
working on these on Tuesday
afternoon:
Rev. Broadfoot conducted
a communion service for our
Anglican residents Tuesday
afternoon.
Londesboro W.I. helped all
residents, with birthdays in
the month of April,
celebrate. We had an ex-
cellent programme with
Mrs. Alice Buchanan who is
president of the W.I. acting
as M.C. Mrs. Radford ac-
companied Jim McCall while
he played several selections
on the violin. A familiar face
to the residents was Rev.
Bob Scott who sang You light
-up my Life, followed by
songs appropriate for this
Easter season such as Rise
Again, Jesus, He is the Son of
God. Claire Vincent recited
Cremation of Sam McGee.
We then enjoyed Easter
Song, Say I Do, I'm Healed,
sung by Rev. Scott. With
Hattie Wood at the piano the
residents enjoyed a hymn
sing of favourite old hymns.
Happy Birthday was sung
to the residents celebrating
their birthdays after
receiving their cards. A cup

Rosenlund who died recent-
lyWe have a new resident
this past week, Mrs. Mildred
Yellow from Exeter who Is
now living on first north. She
has already been down to the
craft room to spend a mor-
ning with us and we hope she
will soon feel very much at
home.
Old Tyme Music was held
in normal care sitting where
residents enjoyed the piano
playing of Mrs. Elsie
Henderson and also records
that have been donated of
fiddle music.
