The skating club now has a
new name and a new slate of
officers for next year.
Saturday was the last day
for the kids skating lessons
and they ended with doing
tests.
A brief business meeting
was held and the nominating

Caramel Sweeiiey
committee submitted the
following names for election
to the board of directors, all
of whom have agreed to
stand: past president,
Connie Lewis; president,
Linda Hendrich'; vice-
president, Cathy Shantz;
secretary, Beth
McGee ;assistant secretary,
Alma Westlake; treasurer,
Heather Decker.
Directors for 1981-81 are:
Paul Bedard, Bonnie Keller,
Donna ' Klopp, Tootle Wer-
ner, Bonnie Schenk, . Alma
Westlake, Carmel Sweeney
and Mozart Gelinas Jr.
CFSA test chairman, is
Carole Deitz.
The club will now be called
the Zurich and area figure
skating club.
Old timers hockey
Members of the Old timers
hockey team and their wives
spent the weekend in Kin-
rardine where the men took
.part in a tournament on
Friday and Saturday.
Zurich crusade
Plan to attend the faith and
Life crusade, held in the
community centre from
April 19 to 26.
It .begins at 7:45 each
evening with special guest
Rev. Nelson Litwiller. There
will also be morning
meetings at 10 Monday to
ay.
Everyone is invited to
welcome to take part.
St. Boniface bake sale
Don't forget about the
bake sale and tea this
Saturday at St. Boniface
school gym. It's sponsored
by the Girl Guides and
Brownies.
Any donations would be
greatly appreciated. Time:
1:30.

Church women meet
The April meeting of the
Emmanuel Church Women
was held Thursday evening,
April 2, with Group 3 com-
prised of Isobel Gascho,
Lylyan Greb and Dorothy
Brea.:ey, in charge of the
devotional.
Phillippa Steckle played a
piano selection prior to the
opening of the meeting.
Isobel Gascho opened the
meeting by reading a poem
entitled "He lives", this was
followed by hymn 14 "He
lives".
Lylyan Greb read a very
interesting and enlightening
article on Easter -the
Spiritual re -birth. Barry
Gandier was presented by
Isobel Gascho and fovoured
with several piano and ac-
cordion selections. These
were greatly enjoyed. A tri-
logue was very well given by.
Isobel Gascho, Lylyan Greb
and Dorothy Breakey on
Easter 1981. A duet by
Beatrice Rader and Dorothy
Breakey entitled Just keep
on praying until the light
breaks through was greatly
enjoyed.
Isobel Gascho read the
scripture from John, chapter
3, then hymn 74 Lead me to
Calvary was sung.
The topic Does
resurrection make any
change in our lives? was
very well given by Isobel
Gascho. In part she stated
that we know something
happened that first Easter
morning.
The triumph of Jesus
changed the disciples that
first Easter morn. There was
no tomb because we didn't
have a corpse. Resurrection
makes our darkness into
light. The power of. the
resurrection awakens our
faith. New life - living it, will
create real glory. Because
He lives, we too shall live.
The dead are not dead - they
are alive.
Prayer was offered by
Isobel Gascho, after which
Beatrice Rader and Dorothy
Breakey sang another duet
entitled Let Jesus which was
greatly enjoyed.
Before the offering was
received by Lylyan Greb and
Dorothy Breakey and
dedicated by Isobel Gascho,
Isobel read an article en-
titled What to give up in
Lent.
Phillipa Steckle presided
at the piano for all of the
musical numbers.
During the business part of
the ting, Bernys Fink-
beiner, the president, read a
poem Easter is an
awakening and offered
prayer.
The secretary's and
treasurer's reports were
given, as were the reports by
the conveners of different
committees. General
business was discussed.
At this time, it was an-
nounced the UCW will be
in charge of the Sunday
service on May 3. This part
of the meeting closed with
the Mizpah benediction
being said in unison.

selections during the social
get-together.

A lovely time was had by
those who attended the
bridal shower for ' Audrey.
Dobson (fiance of Doug
Meidinger) at St. Boniface
school gym on Sunday af-
ternoon. She received
several beautiful and useful
gifts. The couple are to be
married in Cambridge on
May second. (Doug is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Leo
Meidinger).
Beat wishes for a speedy
recovery are extended to
Clarence Geoffrey who is a
patient in Victoria Hospital.
Congratulations to Ted and
Sarah Robson (nee
Ducharme) of Windsor who
celebratedtheir 25th wedding
anniveraryon Saturday April
4 with a lovely family dinner
at the Garage in London.
Several brothers and
sisters from Zurich attended
and Ted's parents Mr. and
Mrs. Wilfred Corriveau. Also
the couple's eight children
were present and four
grandchildren. A nice time
was had by all.
Congratulations are in
order for Julie and Mozart
Gelinas Jr. on the arrival of
their third child, a girl born
on March 3147 7 oz.) in
South Huron Hospital.
Chantel is a grand-
daughter for Mozart and
Marie Gelinas Sr. and
Lucien and Nora Corriveau
both of Zurich.
Welcome to town, Mr. and
Mrs. Louis Farwell who
moved last week into the
former home of Mr. and Mrs.
Leo Meidinger on Goshen
Street south.
A very rewarding four
days were had by Jerome
Sweeney as he took part on a
team giving a men's cursillo
weekend. It was held
Thursday evening to Sunday
in Stratford, at St. Joseph's
Church.
A lovely shower was held
on Friday April 3 for bride
elect, Gail Ducharme,
daughter of Gerard and
Mary Ducharme, RR 2
Zurich. Many beautiful gifts
were received, and all en-
joyed a delicious lunch.
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Bedard
of Detroit spent the weekend
visiting relatives here.
Golden Glimpses
Although the buds on some
of the trees look as though
they are ready to burst, the
bits of snow on the weekend
kept everyone shivering.
On Monday evening, films
were shown followed by
refreshments.
The occupants of
Maplewoods apartments and
some interested residents
from the home have been
busy planting seeds in the
newly erected greenhouse.
We will all be anxious to see
their finished products. In
the meantime, it is a
challenge for them.
We are pleased that Mrs.
Ferne Bowman and Mr.
Gordon Bloch have been able
to return from the general
hospitals.
Residents who have been
out visiting recently are Mrs.
Inez McEwen, Mrs. Beatrice
Overholt and Mrs. Alvernia
Hill.
Bingo was played on
Friday evening followed by
refreshments.
Please keep in mind that
the Ladies Auxiliary will
be holding their annual
Mother's Day Tea, Bake Sale
and Plant Sale on Saturday
May 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. Any
donations of baking would be
very much appreciated.
The Sunday evening
chapel service was con-
ducted by Rev. Barbara
Laing of Zurich and Dash-
wood United Churches. Miss
Idella Gabel presided at the
organ during the service and
accompanied the choir.
