Chamber of Commerce to hold sauerkraut supper
Don't forget about the
sauerkraut supper that is
coming up on Wednesday
April 8 being served from
5:30 to 8. For only $5 you will
receive a plate full of spare
ribs with sauerkraut or
Zurich
Carmel Sweeney
coleslaw and a piece of
homemade pie.
This annual event is put on
by the Chamber of Com-
merce.
Sign of spring?
I finally saw my first robin
on Saturday, so guess spring
is here for sure!
Garage sale
The Zurich -Grand Bend
figure skating club is holding
a garage sale on Saturday
April 18 at Hogg's Service
Station in St. Joseph. If you
have anythiig to donate to
this sale, please leave it
there or at the arena on
April 4.
Tickets are on sale for a
50 50 draw that will be
drawn on May 5 at the
skating banquet for the
children and their parents.
Bingo winners
The lucky winners at St.
Peter's CWL parish bingo
last Wednesday were:
Theresa Stark, Mrs. Norma
Desjardine, Theres,a
Bedard, Renee Denomme.
In the share the wealth,
Greta Denomme won $21.50.
Henry Vanderburgt, Ber-
nadette Masse, Paula
Durand, Kevin Jeffrey.
Share the wealth of $18 was
Madeline Rau, Emlie
McCloud, Janet Durand and
Scott Couse. Maurene
Regier, Madeline Rau and
Renee Denomme, Dolly
Creces, Linda Mom-
mersteeg.
Share the wealth -Evelyn
Jeffrey worth $20.00, plus she
won the next round at $5.00
Chances were sold on a
hooked rug that was made
and donated by Mrs. Ber-
nadette Denomme and won
by Gerard Bedard. Also a
cushion was won by Bernie
Denomme, that was made
and donated by Mrs. Rita
Mommersteeg.
Parish dance
Lots of fun and plenty of
dancing was enjoyed by all
of us who attended the St.
Boniface parish dance
Saturday in Dashwood. The
encouragement of seeing a
full hall hopefully indicated
that they will have more
dances in the future.
The serving of sandwiches,
pickles and coffee topped off
a nice evening.
New ambulance
Don't be surprised if you
see a strange beige and
orange vehicle around town
now, it is our new am-
bulance! Sure a change from
the familiar blue and white.
Personals
Mrs. Blanche Ducharme,
RR 2 Zurich, has gone out
west to Saskatchewan. She is
visiting her mother who is in
the hospital.
Best wishes for a speedy
recovery are extended to Ed
Corriveau, who is a patient
in South Huron Hospital,
Golden Glimpses
Although all signs
sometimes fail, with the
frogs singing, motor bikes
out performing antics and
children with their sand
pails, surely spring cannot
be far off.
Movies were held on Mon-
day evening followed by
refreshments.
The Zurich Choir, under
the direction of Miss
Dorothy Steckle entertained
at the home on Thursday
es/ening. There was a good
attendance of residents from
the home, the Maplewoods
Apartments and the Blue
Water Rest Home
Apartments. All had high
praise for the singers.
We regret that Mr. Gordon
Bloch is in Victoria Hospital,
London; Mrs. CarolineGrat-
ton in South Huron
Hospital, Exeter; and Mrs.
Ferne Bowman is still in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London.
On Tuesday, April 7 at 7
p.m., the Ladies Auxiliary of
the Home will meet in the
dining room where the
meeting will commence
with a programme and
refreshmentss for the
residents. All interested
ladies in the community are
invited to attend the
meeting.
Residents who .Were out
visiting during the week
were Mrs. Inez McEwen and
Mrs. Nancy Koehler.
Bingo was played on Fri-
day evening followed by
refreshements.
The Sunday evening
chapel service was con-
ducted by Rev. Brian Elder
of Crediton United Church.
Mrs. Finkbeiner presided at
the organ during the service.

Mrs. Josephine Dietrich,
who is now a patient in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London
and underwent surgery.
Madeline Gelinas was
transferred to Victoria
Hospital last week.
And to those who are
convalescing at home: Tony
Bedard, Agnes Regier, and
Mrs. Gordon Erb who were
all patients in the hospital
last week.
Welcome back to Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Yungblut who
arrived home safe and sound
last Sunday after being in
Florida since last December.
Mrs. Theresa Burr and two
children London, spent most
of last week (school break)
with her mother, Mrs. Dolly
Jeffrey at St. Joseph.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Regier
and Mr. and Mrs. Louie
Denomme spent the
weekend in Windsor, and
attended their niece's
wedding.
A group of seven girls left
by plane on Sunday to spend
a week in Florida.
Those going were: Cheryl
Denomme, Audrey Regier,
Rose Marie Overholt, Mary
Ann Regier, Debbie
Overholt, Charlene Hartman
and Patti Regier.
The teenage bowling team
took part in a home bowling
tournament last week, with
them going to St. Marys on
Tuesday and having St.
Marys team return here on
Thursday to compete.
A lovely bridal shower was
had by Ann Snell of Clinton
on Sunday at St. Peter's hall
St. Joseph. She is the fiance
of Gary Denomme (son of
Mr. and Mrs. Tony
Denomme). Ann received
many beautiful gifts from
the sixty-eight ladies at-
tending the shower. All
enjoyed a delicious lunch of
fried chicken and all the
trimmings.
Betty Oke attended a staff
development course in
Barrie March 23-27 Betty is
the clerk- treasurer in
Hensall.
Larry and Louise Merner
recently spent a two week
vacation in Long Beach,
California, where they
visited with his niece, Miss
Marcia Merner and also
went to such places as
Mexico and Las Vegas.
John and Marilyn Geiger,
RR 1 Zurich, motored to
Cincinnati for a few adays
rest lastweekand to do some
golfing.
Marjorie and Carolyn
Love spent the March break
visiting relatives in Windsor.
They visited all the
Denomme, Belanger and
Papineau relatives some of
whom they had not seen for
20 years.
The highlight of their trip
was being present at Aunt
Lucy Belanger's 79th bir-
thday party held at her
daughters Mr. and Mrs. Ben
SO -50 WINNER— Pauline Miller of Zurich won $140 in o 50-
50 draw held at the Zurich novice tournament, Saturday.
Presenting her with the cheque is Paul Morrison, president of
Zurich's minor athletics association.

evening of cards and well
wishes.
They report she is as ac-
tive as she was at 29.

Elaine Love and her cousin
Diane Marier from Windsor
spent a week's holidays in
Ottawa recently. The main
highlight of their trip was
being present at Parliament
in session. They visited in
Oakville, on their way home,
with cousins George and
Marilyn Belanger and
family.
Adam Joseph Masse,
infant son of Mr. & Mrs. Paul
Masse was baptized on
Sunday at St. Peter's
Catholic Church by Father
Beneette. His godparents are
Doug and Julie Debus.
Also little Charles George
Rau son of Mr. and Mrs.
Dennis Rau was baptized at
the same time, with god-
parents being, Charlie and
Madeline Rau.
