the past few years the Junior
Farmers have been helping
at the Pork Congress to park
cars. This is always a fun
time for the Junior Farmers.
Last year we ended off our
year with a hayride
thoughout Exeter. Although
we didn't really sing a lot of
Christmas carols, we still
had a lot of fun.
Throughout the year South
Huron Junior Farmers
sponsor dances at the area
community centers. This is a
chance to meet new friends
and have a good time. The
first Wednesday of each
month marks our club
meetings. At these meetings
we do everything from
touring Arc Industries, to
having a scavenger hunt, to
having pool or beach parties.
The Huron County Junior
Farmers have also been
busy this year building a
garden shed for the
Bluewater Centre, and
hosting the Provincial
directors' meeting and the
Provincial winter games. As
well as numerous other
activities.
April is membership
month, so that now you can
become involved in the
activities of the Provincial,
county and clubs levels of the
Junior Farmer Asso'lriation
of Ontario. You will find as
numerous others have, that
it is time well spent!
Grants for non-profit housing
Grants of up to $5,000 and
interest-free loans will be
made to municipalities that
wish to provide municipal
non-profit rental housing for
the first time.
Housing Minister Claude
Bennett said the one -time -
only grants and loans will
encourage more com-
munities to become involved
in municipal non-profit hous-
ing.
"It has become apparent
that the interim or short-
term money requirements
that some municipalities
face when they are at the
preliminary stage of
development are a draw-
back. The new incentives
will overcome this," he said.
The grants of up to $5,000
will help municipalities
assess how their housing re-
.quirements can be met un-
der the municipal non-profit
housing program. Some un-
its developed under this
program are rented at
market levels while others
are allocated on a rent -
geared -to -income basis.
The grants will be follow-
ed by interest-free loans to
municipal non-profit cor-
porations, to be used as in-
terim • financing for ad-
ministrative and develop-
ment costs. Additional
interest-free loans may be
available for technical con-
sultants' contracts. The
ministry loans will be
scheduled for repayment at
the time of the first
mortgage advance.
However, if for
some reasona project did not
go ahead. the ministry will
absorb the costs, said
Bennett. "Our whole idea is
to minimize the initial finan-
cial risk for the
municipalities."
While the initiatives are
aimed primarily at com-
munities considering
municipal non-profit hous-
ing, assistance will be made
available to municipalities
in the of developing
municipal non-profit rental
housing for the first time.
Miscellaneous Ramblings
Continued from page 4
If I had the $50, I would have bought the set too!
They were the nicest I saw, with other prices rang-
ing from four to 12 dollars each. Second choice was a
Britains' company renaissance knight priced at $35.
I should have bought them.
At one of the wargames conventions I managed to
trade for a set of Britains' Guardsmen, for about 50
cents each. They could be worth up to $12. Each.
They say the only difference between men and
boys is the price of their toys. I guess the only
difference between men and collectors is: collectors
don't worry what their wives will say!

Under the ministry's
municipal non-profit housing
program, a federal rent
reduction grant reduces the
effective interest rate on
loans from private lending
institutions to two per cent.
When required, the province
offers an additional rent
reduction grant of up to 100
per cent of the federal
assistance.
These rent reduction
grants are used to maintain
over-all rents at market
levels, and to subsidize rent -
geared -to -income units. If
additional funds were re-
quired, they would be shared
on a 50:50 ratio between the
federal and provincial
governments.
