Buckeyes put
Marauders out
The Zurich Buckeyes
edged the Centralia
Marauders 3-2 Wednesday to
advance to the semi-finals of
the South Huron hockey
league.
The Buckeyes won the
series over Centralia in three
straight games and will now
meet the Centralia College
Saints in the next round.
The Zurich -College best -of -
five series starts tonight
Wednesday at the Stephen
township arena at Huron
Park at 8:30 p.m. and
resumes Monday night at the
Zurich arena.
All of the scoring in the 3-2
Zurich win came in the first
two periods.
Captain Ron Funston of
the Marauders opened the
scoring at 15:10 of the first
period on a three-way
combination with Mark
Cronyn and Matt Muller and
only a minute later Kim
McKinnon squared the score
for the Buckeyes on a pass
from Gerald Weido.
The Marauders again
jumped in front in the second
period as Ron Funston hit
the Zurich net on passes
from Matt Muller and Mark
Cronyn at 2:57.
The Buckeyes evened the
score at 4:33 on a successful
shot by Rick Schilbe on a
play started by Steve Bedour
and Randy McKinnon.
The winning goal was fired
by Gerald Weido on a three-
way effort with Kim
McKinnon and Pat Bedard
with four minutes remaining
in the second period.

Bantams lead Blyth
The Zurich~ bantams took
a 1-0 lead : in their playoff
series with Blyth on Monday
night with a 4-3 victory.
The home town Blyth team
opened the scoring in the
first period on a goal by Bill
Preszcator. It was the only
scoring of the period.
Zurich tied the score at 1-1
in the second period on a goal
by` Bryan Kading, with the
assist going to Derek
McKinnon. Blyth took a 2-1
lead on a goal by Kent
Howatt at the 10:46 mark of
the period.
Zurich tied the score at two
apiece in the third on a goal
by Bryan Kading, assisted
by Bob Snell. Blyth went
ahead again on a goal by
Brent Brooks. Mark
Boogemans tied the game
with an unassisted goal at
the 8:39 mark. With just
under five minutes to go in
the game, Bryan Kading
scored his third goal to give
the Zurich team the win.
Assisting on the goal were
Derek McKinnon and Bob
Snell.
