.Lent events continue
Calvary United Church
will be holding Wednesday
evening services during lent.
An interesting feature of the
March 18 program will be a
film "He Restores my Soul".
The story is about a gospel
singer who was terribly
'disfigured in an airplane
crash and his adjustment to
continue work, through the
support of family and
friends.

The ladies of the church
will continue to attend the
"Learning for Lent" series
in Zurich each Wednesday
morning. Mrs. Don Gaiser
would appreciate acall from
anyone wanting tran-
sportation.
Ladies' aid
The March meeting of Zion
Lutheran Ladies' Aid was
held March 10 with group 2
and conveners, Mr. Ray
Rader and Mrs. Earl Keller
in charge of devotions and
lunch. There were 23
members present and -one
guest.
Pastor M. Mellecke
continued the topic on the
construction of the .church,
names and why.
President Mrs. Chas.
Martene, presided for the
business. More gifts have
been given •to the kitchen.
The ladies are also buying
some needed articles.
Donations and cards of
thanks were received.
A memorial was given for
former member, Mrs. Albert
Miller.
The Altar Guild reported
31 visits and 10 treats. The
new Guild is Mrs. Lorne
Becker and Mrs. Oscar
Miller.
Baptism
Joshua Adam Ryan, Infant
son of Mr. and Mrs. John
Becker was baptized Sun-
day, March 15 by Rev. M.
Mellewke in Zion Lutheran
church. Sponsors were Mr.
and Mrs. John Hayter.

Jack and Don Gaiser
motored to Florida, taking
back their sisters, Myrtle
(Mrs. Jim Poland) of
Campbellford, Ontario and
Lois (Mrs. Kay Kretzman)
of Margate, Florida who had
attended the funeral of their
mother, Mrs. Cora Geiser.
They spent a week there with
relatives enjoying good
weather and sports events.

Miscellaneous Rumblings
Continued from page 4
It has been the Canadian willingness to let foreign
companies come into this country and take out our
natural resources and then have to pay double for
them in a refined form. Let the Americans go and let
PetroCan take over where they left off. It is time that
we show our neighbor to the south that we can survive
on our own. We thank them for the expertise that they
have given us, but it was time to do things our own
way.
But maybe I'm getting too far ahead of myself. If
the federal government took control, there would have
to be a way of sharing the profits equally and that deci-
sion would have to come from unanimous consent of
alI the provinces. They can't even decide how to bring
our constitution home so that we can set formulas for
profit-sharing. Oh well....
