4-H studies lining, crossword
The sixth meeting of the
Zurich I "Fashion Freaks"
was held at the home of aur
president Marg Deichert on
March 9.
The meeting was opened
with the 4-11 pledge, the
Zurich
Carmel Swreeisey
reading of the minutes and
the roll call.
We were then taught how
to line a vest, how to make a
flat filled seam and how to
finish a raw edge with bias
tape.
We then did a crossword
puzzle which was in our
member's pamphlet. The
meeting was ended with
orange juice and cupcakes
served by Marg Deichert.
The last meeting will be
held at the home of Susan
Deichert on March 31 at 7
p.m.
Rip VanWinkle
The grade 5 to 8 pupils of
St. Boniface school
presented their first operetta
"Rip Van Winkle", last
Tuesday evening in front of a
full auditorium of parents
and relatives. The students
and teachers are to be
commended for a job well
done getting this play
together. The costumes and
settings were very good also.
It was enjoyed by everyone
present.
Canada fitness survey
Our family was one of the
lucky ones chosen to take
part in the Canada fitness
survey, being held in Zurich
until July.
It is conducted by Jane
Campbell of Komoka and
John Minutillo, London. The
tests r' )ne are a bit tiresome
but fun and rewarding to
oneself.
The aim is to find out how
many people are in shape,
overweight and who do daily
physical activities.
Tests are done to achieve
this information, such as:
running up and down stairs
to music, taking all sorts of
measurements and checking
body fat, blood pressure and
heart rate.
Had to do push-ups, sit-ups
and tests for muscle strength
and flexibility.
All in all it takes about an
hour for each one to go
through the routine. They
bring along the equipment
necessary, and an eleven -
page questionnaire must be
completed by those taking
part in the survey. A button
saying "I participated" is
given out afterwards.
Vote today
Be sure to go out and vote
today (19th) ! The polls will
be open from 8 a.m. till 7
