Buckeyes take two game lead over Marauders
The Zgrich Buckeyes have
taken a two game lead over
the Centralia Marauders in
the first round of South
Huron intermediate hockey
league playoffs.
The Buckeyes scored a 4-2
victory in the opening game
played at Huron Park,
Thursday and Sunday af-
ternoon on home -ice at. the
Zurich arena they won by a
score of 7-4.
The third game will be
played tonight, Wednesday
at the Stephen township
arena at Huron Park with a
fourth if necessary back i.
Zurich Sunday afternoon.

period, Gerald Weido put the
Buckeyes on the scoreboard

on an unassisted effort.

The Marauders cut the
Zurich lead to a single goal
at 17:25 on a successful shot
by 'Mark Cronyn on a solo
dash. With a minute left,
Kevin McKinnon registered
for the Buckeyes on an
unassisted effort and the two
goal lead was again rest-
.ored.
Each team scored one goal
Panthers out
South Huron's basketball
program has come a long
way since the senior Pan-
thers lost 106-10 to Listowel
about 10 years ago.
The Exeter school finished
first this year for the first
time since the 1950's and
even though their Huron -
Perth season ended with x-
67-47 semi-final loss to
Stratford Central Rams
Tuesday, the foundation is

The Panthers' lack of
, playoff experience showed
against Central, but neither
South Huron players or their
fans gave up. The Panthers
were outscored .18-6 in the
second quarter to trail 31-18
at the half, but re-entered the
packed gym to a standing

the WOAA southern division
championship as the result
of a 6-4 win over Alma -
Logan.
