November 13 Municipal elections across the area were held with Dan Turkheim joining three in- cumbents in Zurich, Gerald Shantz successful in his se- cond bid for a council seat in Hay township and Paul Steckle besting Tom Consitt for the reeve's job in Stanley. Miss Marie Gelinas celebrated her 103 birthday. A fact finder appointed by the education relations com- mission recommended a salary increase of 8.5 per- cent for Huron County's secondary school teachers. MPP Jack Riddell told the Zurich and district Chamber of Commerce that while Canada may be suffering rom an oil crisis it is not suffering' from ,an energy crisis. After spending a sub- stantial amount of money on repairs and additions to the bean festival kitchen, the Bean Festival at their an- nual meeting decided to hold onto their profits. December 4 Huron white bean producers voted at their annual meeting to boycott W.G. Thompson and Sons. Zurich council learned that December 18 Robert WWert, a graduate of the Zurich Minor Athletic Association and a rookie winger with the St., Pauls Canadiens was the fourth leading scorer in the Central Alberta Junior B Hockey League.
