operates a free-lance -art
studio in her home in
Goderich, but spends most
of her time looking after her
family. She is married with
two small children.
She says she would like to
re-enter the work force
when her children are older.
She said that winning the
logo contest will give her a
boost when that time comes.
She is looking forward to
attending the playhouse this
summer and in the years to
come with her life time sub-

her prize will be worth more
than $700 to her.

Hensall LaLeche League
discuss fathers' role
La Leche League in Huron
County South, met in Hensall
last month at the home of
Mrs. Peter . Bisback. The
meeting was postponed one
week due to the storm, but
many women drove in fog to
attend thefirst of our
meetings in the Hensall
area. It was announced that
the next meeting will be held
March 11 at 2 p.m. at 86
Queen St. Hensall.
Janis Bisback mentioned
that the La Leche League
International Conference
coming up in July will be'
held at the Conrad Hilton in
Chicago. The opening
presentation will be given by
husband and wife Doctor
Stanway from England who
have written a book "Breast
is Best". This year, new LLL
members will receive silver
membership cards in
celebration of the League's
25th anniversary.
LLL Belgrave is now a
depot for Egnell Electric
breastpumps. These pumps
may be rented by mothers
who are unable to breastfeed
their babies, but, still wish to
provide milk for their
premature infants.
Discussion opened with the
women introducing them-
selves from Zruich, Exeter,
Crediton, Mitchell and
Goderich. Each mother was
shown a picture and asked to
share their response to the
photos relationship to the
different advantages of
breast feeding. Many women
mentioned how easy it is to
mother their newborns. , that
they enjoyed a feeling of
accomplishment in feeding
their babies. Mothers
thought that fathers need not
feel left out of caring for
their children, however, they
agreed that fathers shouldn't
always be burdened with a
fussy baby.There are definite
benefits to the father who
has a sweet smelling, con-
tented baby, whom -Dad
enjoys being with.
After the meeting the
women took time to look
through the library and visit
with each other. Nutritious
finger foods and juice were
served to the 20 or so hungry
children and mothers. A
playroom has been set up for
the preschoolers. 4.s with all
are always welcome.
Next month's meeting will
deal with the art of
breastfeeding and over-
coming difficulties. A
survey researched by Dr.
A.K. Ladas, found that many
difficulties encountered by
nursing' mothers were
significantly related to the
lack of information and
resulted in mother's stop-
ping breastfeeding before
they wished. This survey
also concluded that "Women
who have both information of
the type given LLL and
support, have a better
outcome tb their breast-
fedding endeavor, better
than women who have only
information or only sup -
League meetings, children _ port".
