Zurich balloon reaches Connecticut
A Zurich public school
student, Dale Miller (son of
Mr. & Mrs. Art Miller)
received a long distance
phone call 'on Saturday, all
the way from "Bridge
Water, Connecticut" from
Greg Case. He found Dale's
balloon that was let go from
Zurich

holidays (celebrating the
town's 125th anniversary) .
The 19 year-old boy found it
in a wooded area while he
was out riding on his
motorcycle!

The fourth meeting of the
4-H Zurich I, Fashion Freaks
was held at the home of Mrs.
Joan Regier last Tuesday
el/ening. They were shown
how to apply an iron -on
fusible interfacing. Helen
Regier (leader) then
demonstrated how to put in a
lapped zipper, followed by a
quiz. The girls were assigned
work to complete at home.
Their next meeting will be
held on March 2 at the home
of Mrs. Mary Regier.
Zurich Girl Guides
Mrs. Smith, the Guide
commissioner from Exeter,
was present at the Girl Guide
meeting on Wednesday
evening when a special
ceremony took place. She
officially enrolled 11 girls
into the first Zurich pack.
After they recited the Guide
promise, they were given
their scarfs to wear. This
was witnessed by leaders,
Debbie Regier and Sue
Hartman, as well u mothers
and a few relatives. All
enjoyed watching the girls
do a skit and play some
games. They are divided into
two gr ' .: called the Daf-
fodils a . ' Trilliums. Lunch
and refreshments were
served.
Orders for Girl Guide
cookies will be taken in the
near future.
Changes around town
Mr. & Mrs. Leo Meldinger
have taken up residence in
one of their apartments on
Frederick Street.
Wendy and Mike Masse
have moved into the former
home of Billy Witmer on
Mary Street.
Figure skating
Congratulations to all the
members of the Zurich,
Grand Bend figure skating
club for their splendid
performance of "Show Biz"
at the carnival on Sunday. A
lot of hard work and time
went into this project, and all
the executives and different
committes and club pro's
should also be congratulated
on a job well done! A very
good turn out was on hand to
see the show. The winner of a
draw at the door from ad-
vance tickets was Janet
Regier, who won a figurine
and a salad bowl set.
We also enjoyed the
performance of 12 year old
Anissa Gurchin who was the
guest skater.

Best wishes for a speedy
recovery are extended to
Madeline Gelinas who is a
patient in South Huron
Hospital in Exeter.

who helped me with my quilt
last week!
A spiritual weekend
Cursillo retreat was made by
Tennis Bedard and Don
Denomme of Goderich and
Jerome Sweeney Zurich part
of a group, held in Guelph at
the Loyola House, which
they found was very in-
s done interested in gig
bowling on Thursday af-
ternoon's from 2 p.m. to 4
p.m. are welcome to join the
Golden Agers at the Town &
Country Lanes.
Mrs. Florence Grice of
Hamilton is presently
spending a few weeks
vacation with her daughter
and family, Geraldine and
John Hall at RR 2 Zurich.
A reminder to the senior
citizens that the next
meeting will be on., Monday
March 9 at 2 p.m. Cards will
be played followed by a pot
luck .supper. Everyone
welcome!
Ted and Jean Geoffrey
along with ` their son and
daughter-in-law, Doug and
Darlene Geoffrey of Exeter
returned home on Sunday by
plane after spending a
week's holiday in Fort
Lauderdale, Florida. While
there, they met friends,
Frank and Doreen Regier
and all enjoyed going to the
dog races.
There were six tables
playing at the card party last
Tuesday at St. Boniface
School. The last one will be
held this week.

Dedomme, Kitchener, who
passed away on Saturday.
She is a granddaughter of
Mrs. Juliette Denomme, of
Zurich.

World Day of Prayer, Friday
March d at 2 p.m. held at the
United Church.
A wonderful tune was had
by Florence Denomme last
week as she along with her
daughter Dolores, and son-
in-law Joe Staton and their
three children of Troy,
Michigan went by plane to
Florida la. belated (3urist-
mas present to. Florence).
They enjoyed going to such
places as Sea World, Disney
World and seeing Kennedy
Space Centre, and reported
having. nice sunny weather.

The morning worship last
Sunday was well attended.
Tracy Erb read the mor-
ning lesson. •
In her talk to the children
Ms. Laing emphasized the
fact that we must lay up
treasures in Heaven, by
practicing love and kindness
while on earth. The topic for
her sermon was "Lent and
its meaning." One point she
stressed was that during lent
we should do some soul
searching.
We express a special thank
you to Douglas Klopp who
had been our organist during
Jan. and Feb. while Mrs.
Nita Oesch has had holidays.
This past Sunday Mr.
Nigel Gamble of London
presided at the organ.
