HomeMy WebLinkAboutZurich Citizens News, 1981-02-26, Page 2Page 2 Citizens News February 26, 1981 Zurich ladies Bowl for Millions Last Monday evening, the ladies bowling team took part in the Bowl for Millions, a campaign to raise money to help the South Huron Big Brothers association which is trying to include a Big Sister organization. The ladies got sponsors for the Zurich Caramel Sweeisey first game. The highest donations were brought in by Nancy McKinley who collected $80.00! (Good work.) Music results Results of the Royal Conservatory music exams held in London recently were; Sandra Coleman, grade 8 piano honours, theory -1st class honours. Margaret Deichert, grade 8 3iano (pass), theory -1st !lass honours. Ann Reichert, ;rade 4 piano honours. All girls are students of Mrs. Jack Turkheim, (A.T.C.M.) Personals Leona and Frank Nigh of 3eaforth were recent visitors with her mother, Mrs. Annie F'inkbeiner also a grand - laughter Diane and husband Alex Doell of Kirkton. • Best wishes for a speedy •ecovery are extended to Kargarie Meidinger who is a )atient in St. Joseph's 3ospital, London. Tony and Marlene Bedard Lnd Dick and Bar Rau of RR Zurich attended the Good toads convention in Toronto his past week from Monday o Wednesday which was field at the Royal York Hotel. Mrs. Suzanne Bell of ;ambridge spent the last veek in town with her iarents, Mr. & Mrs. Andrew tau. Barry Cleave returned some and back to work at the 4ill last week after spending wo weeks in Belize, British londuras. Miss Roxanne Hoggarth of Exeter spent the previous week - with her - aunt and uncle, Julie and Doug Debus while her mother , Joyce, went to the Bahamas. Mrs. Elroy Desjardine is presently enjoying a month's vacation with her sister in Yuma,Arizona. Thought for today: The road to success is filled with obstacles!! Everyone is invited to attend the "World Day of Prayer" on Friday, March 6 2 p.m. at the United Church. The theme is "The Earth is the Lord". Guest speaker will be Mr. Ephriam Gingerich. Hope to have a good representation from all the parishes! In spite of last Wed- nesday's foggy weather, enough people turned up at the card party to fill 5 tables playing progressive euchre at the town hall. Those winning prizes were, for ladies high, Annie Fink- beiner; men's high, Ward Neeb, ladies low, Helen Hutchins who cut the deck with Carmel Sweeney; men's low, Charles Hut- chins; lone hand went to Keith Westlake. Door prize went to Agnes Regier whose birthday was that day (all sang happy birthday) . Lucky cup number was won by Louie Farwell. An enjoyable time was had by all and a delicious lunch was served. Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Hess recently returned home after being away to Florida since December Sunday dinner guest with Jerome and Carmel Sweeney and family was a cousin Sister Elaine Noury of St. Marys. Margaret Kalbfleisch is spending a few days with her son, Fred Kalbfleisch of Burlington. Jim and Theresa Burr of London and two children spent Saturday and Sunday with her mother, Dolly Jeffrey and family at St. Joseph. Mrs. Juliette Denomme is back home again, for awhile, after being away to visit with her sons and families in Kitchener for the past month. Les and Beatrice Locke of Trenton spent a week with her mother, Mrs. Emma Schilbe. They left for home yesterday Mr. & Mrs. Herb Klopp, Mr. & Mrs. Claire Deichert and Irene Steinbach at- tended the agricultural society convention in Toronto last Wednesday and Thursday at the Royal York Hntpl . Ross and Linda Fisher also went to the Good Roads convention in Toronto this past week. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cyr spent a few days in Toronto over the weekend. Carl and Miriam Oesch along with Kim, Jane and Wendy Oesch enjoyed Satur- day and Sunday in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry. United church news The sacrament of Holy communion was observed in the United Church on Sunday morning. The morning lesson was read by Bob Horner. In her talk to the children, Ms. Laing explained the meaning of communion. Her sermon to the congregation was entitled "Who is my Jesus?"
