Hensall Church women pay five cents for pillows
Ten members and ' one
visitor attended the UCW
meeting for Unit II on
February 9. Before the
. meeting, the' ladies can-
vassed Hensall for the
March of Dimes.
Jean Hull welcomed
everyone to the meeting with
a poem. Following the
singing of a hymn the 'roll

wedding day".
The special collection was
taken. This month members
.paid five cents for every
pillow . they had in their
house. Deanna Brock chose
as her topic, on the New
Family in the Church, the
one parent family which is
on the increase.
Love was the theme
chosen by Elva Forrest for
the devotion based on the
Scripture. Love is a gift of
God. Love is free. Love has
more power than any drug.
Lots of love is needed. Elva
led in prayer and closed with
a hymn. -
The offering was received
and dedicated. Jean Hull
read the legend of Valen-
tines. Joyce Pepper and
Mona Alderdice conducted
the business. The World Day
of Prayer will be held March
6 at 2:30 p.m. in Hensall
United Church with the
Chiselhurst UCW as
hostesses. The March
meeting will be held at the
Manse as guests of Rev.
McDonald. The March
general meeting will be held
on March 2 . with Unit II
providing the program. Mrs.
Grace Pym of Elimville will
be guest speaker.
Volunteers were asked to
help with lunch for the
Scouts, Beavers, Cubs,
Explorers, Girl Guides and
Brownies after the church
service on Feb. 22. Jean
conducted- a contest and
closed with a reading.
A delicious lunch was
prepared by Hazel Corbett
and Ann Brock and served
by Hazel and Joyce Pepper.
Unit I meets
Kay Elder presided for the
Unit I of the UCW on Feb. 12.
After her opening poem, they
sang and Kay read some
scriptures. Her devotional
theme was "Down in . the
Dumps". She illustrated that
the sea of life is equal to the
burdens of the day. We may
get depressed by actions of
our children, so we need rest
and sleep to renew our
strength, just as Jesus took
time to , relax and rest . Our
spirits are lifted by our hope
in. God.
Kay led in prayer and

minutes followed another
poem by Kay.
Audrey Christie gave the
study using the very in-
teresting story by Rev.
Michael Chandoo, his wife
and children from a
Presbyterian Church in
Grenada on an enchange
ministry for one year. Rev.
Gerald Hutchinson of
Alberta was asked to spend
the year in Grenada St.
George's church. It outlined
each minister and church
and contributed to both
congregations to the
mutuality in mission
programme.
They also discussed the
aparthied government of
South Africa and how the
'native people of that country
are being so ill treated in so
many ways by whites. Also
how some of our banks are
sending massive loans to
help maintain this aparthied
government. -
Audrey Joynt gave a
report on the adopted girl,
Ning Klan Man of Burma.
The report of the

The service in Carmel
