Hensall United church
The service of Hensall
United Church on Sunday
was conducted by Mr. Lorne
Throewer, who spoke on "A
Recipe For Life". In a
cooking recipe the
ingredients and details of
preparing and serving ' a
dish was spelled out so that
no errors are . made. In life,
the Bibleprovides the details
of ingredients of life and how
to use them. Jesus gave us
the perfect recipe in His life
and works. The world was
saved by Jesus but man has
the choice of accepting this
or not.
Many members from
Chiselhurst congregation
joined those at Hensall and
were warmly welcomed.
The service opened with
Mrs. Donna St. John singing
a beautiful setting of the 23rd
Psalm and closed with the
choir singing the benedic-
tion. The anthem was "0
Love of God" by Eric
Tillman. The children's story
was about flashlights
needing new batteries just
the same as we need
recharging at times.
Greeting at the door was
Eric Mansfield and ushers
were Glen Slade and Ross
Sararas.
Local accountant
talks to
Bill McEachern, an ac-
countant from Grand Bend,
talked about income tax and
investments to the Zurich
Chamber of Commerce on
Thursday night.
McEachern worked for the
federal government in
revenue Canada for 30 years
before opeing his own firm.
A question that he
answered was one dealing
with why the government
checks certain people and
how they decide which ones
to check. He said that two
out of 26 were put aside for
field audits and that there is
no special reason, it is by
random choice. - -
He said that if it takes the
auditor 40 hours to go over
your books, it will cost about
$5,000 in tax money. He also
said that it takes about a

a minute and a half to tell'if
someone was honest on their
tax return.
He also spoke on the
benefits and disadvantages
of incorporating a business.
A benefit, if your earnings
are over $20-25,000 a year, is
that there can be a good tax
savings. Another benefit is it
is easier to get a bonds loan
at nine per cent. He said that
they are not always a good
tax write-off. There are tax-
able benefits, like writing off
a car or truck at one per cent
a month on the original cost
and it does not have to stop
at one person. Any
employee, like a wife or son,
as long as they have access
to the vehicle, can also be
used as a tax deduction on
the vehicle.
He ended with a question
period.
Dues were increased to $70
and are payable in two in-
stallments.
The committee reported
on their projects. The
chamber activities com-
mittee reported that they
had inquiries by four people
to join and they would go
ahead and buy the jibs for
the sauerkraut night.
Local development com-
mittee said that the rdral-
urban night would be March
5 and a film and speaker
were going to be part of the
program. The chamber will
have to supply the projector
and projectionist. The local
business trade committee
reported that they might
sponsor a float in the Zurich
parade. A discussion follow-
ed.
