Exeter, realty enjoyed themselves on a three day ski trip at Blue Mountain in Collingwood last Zurich 'Carmel Sweeney Wednesday to Friday (the first time for many) . Those going from Zurich were, Carrie Sweeney, Patti Bedour, Julie Miller and Kevin Oke, plus several from the surrounding area. They came back tired and sore but happy. Card party There was no card patty at St. Boniface school last Tuesday due to stormy weather.but the next one was planned for February 10, then February 24 at 7:30, and the last one will be on March 3. Farm accident Leo Regier of Pembroke son of Lydia Regier, Zurich was in an unfortunate farm accident last week, when he got part of his leg taken off in a silo unloader. We send him our wishes for a speedy recovery. Carol Erb returns Welcome home! to Carol Erb who surprisingly arrived on Saturday from England. A family get- together was held in her honor on Sunday. She is resting for awhile with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Erb. Parish youth programs Seven ladies attended the catechetical workshop at Mount St. Joseph Mother House on Saturday (from St. Boniface and St. Peters parish) pertaining to the parish youth religious programs that are now taking place all over the Dioceses. It was very well attended and they found the speakers very interesting. Ladies auxiliary Last Tuesday evening (Feb. 3) was the ladies auxiliary meeting at the rest home, and due to the bad weather only 12 members were out. It was the first business meeting for the new president, Martha Ducharme (who did very well) . Belle Merner brought two lovely aprons she made, to be put on the apron wheel (which are for sale). The beautifully finished pink and white rose pattern quilt was displayed and tickets are now being made for the draw, at the bean festival on August 22. Seniors meet forcards About 40 senior citizens enjoyed playing euchre and solo at their meeting in the township hall on Monday evening. Following the business portion a delicious Snack was prepared and served by Verlyn Fisher's committee. The March meeting will be held at 2:00 in the afternoon on the ninth. Cards will be played, with a pot luck supper afterwards. New members welcome! License stickers Just a reminder that you only have till the end of the month to get your 1981 car license stickers. Personals Tony and Marlene Bedard attended a convention in Toronto this past week. Dave and Carolyn Stark enjoyed themselves at the Wheels Motor Inn, Chatham for the weekend. Don't forget about the Women's Institute card party on Feb. 18 for Valentines, at 8:00. Admission $1.50 with lunch. Jim and Mary Ann Vanos and their two daughters Toronto, spent the weekend with her parents, Claren- ce and Beattie Geoffrey. Zurich 4-H elect new officers On Tuesday Feb. 3, 1981, the Zurich 4-H club held their first meeting at the home of Helen Regier. After the pledge we in- troduced ourselves and voted on officers. The elec- tion was closed with Marg Diechert, president; Sheila Regier, vice-president; and Theresa and Carolyn Regier, secretaries. We were told the re, quirements for our club: We found out that we have to make 3 samples and one gar- ment, a vest or a skirt. We took turns reading the introduction and filled in the blanks to determine if we are an experienced or begin- ning sewer. SENIOR CITIZEN APARTMENTS (Huron County Housing Authority) Ontario Housing Corporation provides assisted rental accommodation for seniors throughout the County of Huron. Senior citizen housing is for those who can look after their own daily needs and should - not be confused with homes for the aged, where daily care and food services are provided. Assisted rental housing is available to per- sons 60 years of age or older or couples where one person is at least 60 years of age. Seniors who live in these buildings generally pay on a rent -geared -to -income basis, which is usually 20% - 25% of their gross income. Rent will not exceed $250.00 per month. We paired up and measured each other to determine our pattern size. Then we learned about choosing a pattern and fabric. Helen told us we have to colour the pictures of different garments to learn what colours go with which. After learning how to- buy patterns, fabric and notions, we discussed the things we should do for home. Helen then showed how to cut the edges of the pattern pieces. We all decided on "Fashion Freaks" as the club name. We ended the meeting with a snack of brownies and orange juice supplied by Helen Regier. The next meeting will be held at Helen Regier's on Tuesday Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. Congratulations to Don Beauchamp on the opening of his second store (Knechtel) in Hensall. And hope the people there will like his business as much as we do. Mr. & Mrs. Ted Geoffrey and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Regier returned home on Saturday with a lovely tan after being away for two weeks in the Barbadoes. Margo Ducharme spent three days this past week at the home of her aunt and uncle, Martha and Matthew Ducharme while her parents (Paul and Joan) went to a convention in Toronto. Our sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of the late Clare Geiger (especially to his wife Helen) who passed away last Monday. February is Heart Fund Month, so please be generous when someone calls on you for a donation. Jim and Brenda Murray of the Frederick Street apartments recently spent two weeks visiting with both their parents and relatives at Gananoque. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Eckel, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Lavery, Zurich, and Mr, and Mrs. Ken McCarter, Greenway, spent the weekend up north at their cottage (Dyer's Bay) en- joying some snowmobiling. A good time was at the family skating on Sunday afternoon at the arena. Seven girlfriends of Mary Ann Regier helped her to celebrate her twelfth bir- thday a week ago Friday with a slumber party. Don't know how much sleep they actually got though, as when Beth arrived home on Saturday she went to. bed! His mother, Marlene Taylor (nee Rader) was shown speaking to him in sign language, along with his brother Danny. Chad is the grandson- of Mrs. Leona Richert, Zurich. Henry Becker was a patient in St. Joseph Hospital for a few days last week.And William Witmer is a patient in the hospital. Mrs. Margaret Kalbfleisch and Mrs. Vera Haberer spent last week in Toronto visiting with their children, Cathleen and Don Taber and Mr. and Mrs. John Haberer. Pupils from Grade 4 to 8 at St. Boniface school are taking part in an elective program every Monday afternoon for the month of February. Some are taking place in various homes in town. The student council held a Hot Dog Sale on Wednesday. The school is having public speaking for the contestants from Grade 4 to 8 on Tuesday Feb. 17 at 12:45 in the gym. Anyone interested in going to listen is welcome to do so.
